Columbia River spring chinook sonar images.
Although opportunity was in our favor we didn’t manage to bring a fish to the net. Very strange couple days of fishing. We were using custom tied 3 hook mooching leaders and still getting short bites. I would not take the rods out of the holder until the fish was actively pulling out line and we still farmed everything hooked. That said great trip and thought that I would share our Columbia River springer sonar images. So with out further a due…for your drooling enjoyment!

looks pretty.
Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook
He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

Cool pictures, I wonder if our gps/fishfinder can do this on our big boat. Yeah they always say don't get the rods when they're just hitting it until they completely take it themselves and have them hooked by themselves when fishing down at the Columbia. Where were you fishing at on the river?

We were fishing various spots out of Cathlamet, I'll post a report tomorrow.

Thanks for sharing. The images are great. Looks like they like holding in deeper water when they get a chance.

I spent all day out there yesterday with NOTHING and was even went with a guide. My first guide trip, not sure I will do that again.
I saw about 8 fish get pulled in on boats and about 8 to 10 fish being pulled in my plunkers.

Sorry to hear it Scott, I've been there, more than once - pay a lot of $$ for a boat ride. But bottom line is guide or not, fishing is still fishing..scott080379 wrote:I spent all day out there yesterday with NOTHING and was even went with a guide. I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun. ~ John Volker

Yes we were fishing but nice boat tour of the Columbia. Sucks when you see people catching fish and you see they are using something your guide doesn't want to use.....but everyone that is cathcing is using it. Guide or not if something is working for EVERYONE else why wouldn't want to at least give it a try?Gringo Pescador wrote:Sorry to hear it Scott, I've been there, more than once - pay a lot of $$ for a boat ride. Regarding our trip last week, Tuesday night when I saw that the river was out I should have pulled up stakes and headed up to the I-5 stretch of river. I have since heard that it was near limit fishing. Oh-well it was still a great trip.

Yes that is where the fish were and bitting. But tons of boats, made for an interresting trip with the hundreds of boats in a small area.

Poor-mans Side Imaging! I hear that the 788CI with the quad Beam is a pretty sweet setup. Congrats on getting awesome images, too bad on the catch ratio though. Better luck next time.

RE:Columbia River spring chinook sonar images.
It just dawned on me, I pre-tie all hooks for a trip and I had purchased 25 packs of budget hooks to make my leaders with. They were 1/4 the price of the Owner, Mustad or other hooks that I would normally buy. Geeze that was stupid, many lost hookups to save 20 bucks on hooks...rseas wrote:Although opportunity was in our favor we didn’t manage to bring a fish to the net.
