When I was a kid I managed to bring in a 19# channel cat from Lake of the Ozarks with chicken livers. In recent times, the largest fish I have managed to bring in was the 17" bass I caught at Beaver on Tuesday using a Yamamota twin tail grub. I need to get myself a scale...

Sadly I probably won't catch many fish larger than this since I won't fish for what I won't potentially eat. This means no salmon or steelhead for me- at least in the near future. I may possibly be the only guy in the Pacific Northwest who hates salmon.

Thanks. We were 12 miles out, I think. Those charters are the way to go. I usually always catch 2 salmon but most of the time the other one is a wild silver, so I can only bring one home. For $100 and some change you cant go wrong. But I have seen people get skunked out there. Bummer. But the way to do it is get the salmon and bottom fish combo. Nobody gets skunked bottom fishing. The last time, I got lucky, and I caught 2 kings and 10 rock fish so I limited out in both species. That doesn't happen every time. But when its all said and done you walk away w/ $200 - $300 in fish that you caught for that $100 that you paid, pretty good deal. My only problem is I get sea sick. Thank god for Dramamine LOL

Mine would be a 56-inch sturgeon caught right by the boat launch of the Chehalis River outside of Montesano. I don't know how much it weighed (20-25 pounds?). I've never caught an oversized one, but that's probably for the better, any sturgeon over 35-inches will put up one spectacular fight. When I was really little "I" caught a chinook out at bouy 10 that may have weighed a little more, but I handed my pole off so much it wasn't really my fish.

Well I've been out on the ocean one time salmon fishing and did REAL GOOD at being sick. I don't think I've ever been that sick before ever. I ended up catching 2 small Chinook only which was better than getting skunked. My biggest fish was back in the late 70's when Bull Trout were legal on Pond Oreille Lake and it was 18 lbs. Since then I've got a 13 lb. steelhead, 14 lb. Northern Pike, 7 lb. Largemouth. I'm gonna bust the steelhead one this year cause my youngest boy caught a 14 lb. last year and hasn't let up on me or his brother since. =d>

I have caught a 19.5 lb. king salmon off the Les Davis fishing pier in Tacoma years ago on a herring fillet.
Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook

He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

the biggest fish was a grouper that went about 80 lbs. caught from the worlds biggest bass boat (uss carl vinson) while sitting off the coast of oman in the persian gulf. the fish'n was non stop where we were anchored, caught mau mau, barracuda, permit, several other different fish. the smallest fish was a 1/2 inch stickleback minnow. i actually tied on a size 22 hook. used a silk thread for line on a stick with a tiny nymph. just to see if i could.

Wow,

What does one do? Go on this thread and tell the truth...... Ah, I fish all the freakin' time and honestly the biggest fish I've caught must be about a 30" dog fish, 5-7 lbs. Trout 18" Never caught a salmon, Oh wait a minute, lets not forget sea bass from a Westport charter, 5 lbs roughly.
I'm going to blow it all on a new outboard tommorrow, so I can get into that salt water for a salmon.

Rock bass are referred to as sea bass. Bottom fishing charters will put you on hundreds out of westport.
