Well fish4brains is pretty simple. Every where I go I am always looking for fish, wondering if that water over there has fish, what kind of fish and so on. Well one day a long time ago on a trip with some friends kept razzing me 'cause everywhere we went I was asking them to stop so I could fish. Well they started calling me fish for brains. Whats funny is that my mom bought me a shirt for xmas 4 years ago that says fish for brains on it. My wife even tells me that I have fish for brains. When we go on family travels I always have 1or2 rods with me just in case!
Great topic!

ok so i guess this is as good of a place to explain as any...

Earlier this year i was banned from another forum because of my screenname. Apparently "Volk" refers to some old bad German/Nazi ideals. this is what wikipedia says:
"A number of völkisch movements existed prior to World War I. Combining interest in folklore, ecology, occultism and romanticism with ethnic nationalism, their ideologies were a strong influence on the Nazi party, which itself was inspired by Adolf Hitler's membership of the Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (German Workers' Party), even though Hitler in Mein Kampf himself denounced usage of the word völkisch as he considered it too vague as to carry any recognizable meaning due to former over-use."

However, the reason I use it is because of the company that produces wheels for tuner cars. I grew up in the import car craze and Volk was a popular brand of rims. My last set of aftermarket rims were Volk so I decided the uniqueness and simplicity (or so I thought) of the word made it a good one to use.

Anyways, please dont think I'm some Nazi...:)

I was also asked to post the story behind my name. Acutally it is not that unique.

The story goes this way, I was starting another e-mail account and trying to think up names. My youngest daughter, 22 at the time, said that I should combine my two addictions in life into one name. So, fishing, being my first addiction, and archery, my second addiction, the name become fishingarcher.

Somehow, "fishingarcher" just does not sound good, so my daughter suggested anglinarcher instead. The name stuck.

So now, I use Archersteve for my Archery forums and Anglinarcher for my e-mail account and this forum. I'd switch my Archersteve over, but I'm known too well by Archersteve to change over now in the Archery world.

So, if you go to an archery shoot, or go fishing, I just might be the big fat guy out teaching you how it is done. If you go to a movie, I won't be there (LOL).
Too much water, so many fish, too little time.

Its been a long time since I have thought about how I got the handle of "YellowBear".
Some friends of mine and I got together for a trip to the mountains.
We decided to head up to the little Pend Orellie game range for a couple of weeks of hard core Horseback riding.
As kids we rode together most everywhere we went.We w'ere a bit older now and had not been horseback together for some time.
I had a big black quarter horse that was in his own world most of the time,lol..He was a good Horse but you just coulden't trust him to stay under you. On the first day everything was great,we made a big loop of about 25 to 30 miles. We got back to camp and the horses where tired. We rubbed them down and cooled them off in the creek. We got them settled in for the night and had a good dinner and a couple of beers and just caught up on old times. The next morning we saddled up and I climbed aboard.I put the reins across the Saddle my left foot was in the stirrup and I was feeling for the right stirrup with my foot and lighting a Marlboro when it happend. That ole Horse just blew up.I stayed with him for 3 or 4 good jumps and then I hit the ground hard. Now I am 6 foot 2 and I weighed about 220. I have always had long blonde hair and I don,t shave often, kind of a grizzly looking feller.
As I picked myself up and headed towards my mount, one of my buddies says that YellowBear is gonna kill that Horse. That was about 20 years ago and the name stuck. The rest of the trip went off without a hitch The guys got a good laugh out of it and I got a nickname.

I chose fisherhall as my name because my (real life) last name is Hall and I go fishing enough to call myself a fisherman. My whole family calls me that when they see me fishing and I think of it as a secret identity. I also picked this name because I've always wanted to make a hall of my house dedicated to fishing. :batman:

JMay is pretty basic but it has some dark sarcastic humor behind it. My last name is May. My grandpa put May on EVERYTHING, shotguns, tools, rods, boots ect. My Dad put S May on his gear and tools keep them seperate from grandpa's while hunting. When I was about 12 I caught on to what was happening and marked all my stuff Jmay to be a smart @ss and it stuck with me. 1/2 the time now you would think my name in "Jamie" because everyone calls me Jmay.

My screen name came mostly from my love of duck hunting but also my birth year of 83. I have a tattoo of a drake mallard duck on my forearm, hence mallard83.

My wife gave me this name way back on our first computer when she was trying to set up an email account for me. It was available. It was what my hunting partner calls me cuz I'm always reloading and shooting, looking for the perfect load and because I always preach "1 shot" from a steady rest when hunting. He used to laugh that I probably didn't even know how to work the bolt on my rifle cuz I only shot once every season. LOL I really screwed that one up a few years back. Well, let's just say I forgot how many shells I had in my pack that day but I shot a little more than once. Hahaha

Eastside Redneck... The name is a derivation of a nickname I've had for most of the time in the Navy: YAR (Yuppie Austrailian Redneck). No, I'm not an Aussie but you'd never know it when I get drunk. Having lived all over the country through the years I seem to have brought a lot of the South up here with me- the way I fish, my bad habits, my music preference, and my love of big & loud trucks; hence the "Redneck." The "Eastside" comes from my current location in the greater Seattle area and its yuppieville label.
The name is truly fitting if you have seen me in context. I drive a lifted Dodge Ram with my 7' Livingston in the bed blaring CCR, Skynard, or Toby Kieth with a huge dip in my mouth and an Aussie hat on while en route fishing. The best part is when I pull up to the boat launch and just back the truck into the water and launch the boat. The looks on the faces of people watching my truck grunt its way into the water at Pine, Beaver, Sammamish is priceless.

What can I say... "Hello. My name is Amos and I'm an Eastside Redneck."

WOW! Some of you have some crazy reasons for picking your handle.
I believe we are at 28 entries! With the great response I think we should let some others at least have a chance to tell us their story before we start voting. I will give this thread tell the end of the week and see how the response continues.
I have my favorite, do you? (and it can't be your own)

I grew up on a 7000 acre cattle ranch in Montana and have been called Cowboy-Something-or-Other all my life. In college I was a beer cowboy, a mogul cowboy on the slopes, dumb@ss cowboy when it was appropriate... you get the picture.

I still get back to MT several times/year to help out with the bigger events @ the ranch, but mostly my wrangling days involve rounding up my wily 2 and 5 year-olds and the occasional fish.

In spite of the name TroutCowboy my avatar is of me and a bass, so I'll have to get a good pic with my next big trout I guess.

p.s. Good idea for a topic!

ok. I'll take a shot for ya fools :)

so in about..1990 I started using BBS's in the Tacoma area. I was .. 14 or so. I started with the nickname "The Cowboy" (way to be original!). I didnt realize people used handles, and I felt put on the spot.

A friend of mine found out, and the nickname stuck until about.. 1994 when I was using IRC a lot (yeah 28.8 internet -woo!). I got into a lot of online fights with a few other guys on IRC over the nickname, and then in about 1997 I decided it was too long to type and I switched it up to TCB...then I got lazy on the caps and went to 'tcb'. :)

Mine is purely an online handle, and has existed in some way or another for the last 17 years. My initials are -not- TCB, but my first name is 'Tim' so a lot of people think it is (I am sure you guys did too).

I have taken different variations on the name (my xbox live name is 'AbsolutTCB' if you want to add me). Absolut comes from the nearest bottle that I had at the time. :)

What do I win?!

Mines easy, I'm from Kalamazoo, MI. I usually like using Bass Man, but I just wanted to be a little original out here in the NW.

"Fishin"...

This is a cool idea, I'm just pissed I didn't think of it...my WL.com "handle" is BASSACKWARDS

The term "bassackwards" came from obviously "ass backwards". I've never really known what the term "ass backwards" meant. Having grown up bass fishing with my Dad in our 14' Aluminum V hull, trying to mimick the Pro Bass Fisherman by standing on the bench and casting, life didn't get any better for a 12 year old boy. Since "ass" in any word would get you a mouthful of Irish Spring...I flipped it around and started saying "bassackwards". Dad approved cause it wasn't OFFICIALLY cusing and Mom, being and English teacher, like the compound word??? or whatever it's called.

Long story short, "bassackwards" kinda sums up who I am, don't be fake, be yourself and your true friends will like you for who you are.

Thanks all...I'm honored to be a part of this board.

Mike: Thanks for keeping this thing a float. You're a credit to the fishing community.

I chose my name for my first and middle name J=John, T=Thomas. i was told by teachers and family i should be proud of my name because it is very powerful.

i chose the 26 for the numbers ive used in sports. Every year i play football, since 2001 i have been 26 exept 1 year. i started baseball last year and have been 26 in it for the last two seasons

Also, because my dads boat is 26 feet, and thats related to fishing

so JT26 = John Thomas 26

[-o< Vote for me. My original name on this site was needaboat because i simply needed a boat. I was one of those guys with my kids fishing every lake and always from the shore. It was fun because after a while I got to know many of the other shore fisherman by name and I would run into them at differant lakes. (Hay what are you doing hear I thought you were the expert at pine lake, this is beaver lake) Then I got my first boat a nice little fiberglass 10' dingy (the m-ff d-ver, my friends named it after the cheach and chong Impala licence plate). Sold Her and upgraded to a 10' sears aluminum boat (named sears for obvious resons) what a well made and tough boat she was. Well It did not take me long when my wife started going with my three young boys (3,5,9) and I that I was in serious need of a bigger boat. So I made the change and became needabiggerboat. Since that time I have upgraded to a 14' 1968 starcraft and guess what I still needed a bigger boat. Upgraded again to a 16' 1964 glasspar tacoma witch I fish from as often as possible. My only problem now is my wife realy wants me to get a bayliner capri so I guess my new name could be needabaylinercapri. No, I think I am happy as needabiggerboat. Ill let my wife be myhusbandneedstobymeabaylinecapri.[-o< Maybe some day honey.:queen:

I given my name from a good fishing partner (BJ) about 10 years ago. We were fishing on Moses Lake and had just pulled up to a nice brushpile in 15' of water. I told BJ, "this is a good hole, look all the fish on the graph". BJ would always try to cast his line over yours thinking he would catch "your fish". So he started casting over my line, casting every where I would cast, etc. I was nailing big crappie left and right and he could not buy a fish if he had a $100 bill lol. After catching 3 crappie over 15" in three cast he said "Man! You are the SlabKing!" That name has stuck ever since that day. After putting in years and years of figuring out panfish and bass seasonal movements I feel that I really am the "SlabKing" lol :sunny:

Anyone that has fished with me will tell you that for some reason I catch big fish when others say "they aint biting" or "it's too cold" or "too hot", or "only the little ones are biting". Gotta spend time on the water and get to know the areas that others pass because they don't "look fishy". Tight lines fellas.
