Lake Cle Elum........ Macks?

Post by Bodofish » Fri Jun 15, 2007 11:44 am

I'd like to troll for some of the big boys this weekend. Can anybody impart some wisdom. Never fished Cle Elum and I haven't found any Bathymetric info on the lake.
TIA

Follow the other boats and fish the bottom at 110' with a kwikfish. Try K-13 thru K-16.

Will do. Thanks! I made up some big wedding rings too. I hope it's not to windy to stay on the lake for a while. Weather calls for 10 to 20 NW on Sunday. Better than rain I guess. Better make it real early.

Take it easy. The Mack poulation on Cle Elum is not as strong as it has been in the past.

You're right, I was doing some research on them last week and it takes years for them to get big. We usually take one and C&R the others. They're so big that one is all you need.

No worries, C&R always unless it really worth keeping. Hatchery fish on the other hand.......

Well Bigastrout, after fishing the lake on Sunday I'm not sure I'd be worried about the population of Mack's in Lake Cle Elum. Most of the folks I talked to there said they couldn't keep them off their lines. By the the way after a little research I've found they aren't native to the lake, they were planted with out permission. They wreak havoc with the natural Bows and other fish. None the less, C&R a large number of them while trying for those big bows after hearing about how and were to go for them. Kept two for the day when it became apparent the clock was winding down on our fishing adventure. Next time Burbot and Bows. I'll change my time table for that.

This is not a fishing report. Just a comment on the state of affairs

I hadn't heard of Macks on CdA. I'll check that one out. Can anyone verify. They also have 40# Chinook, landlocked.

I've got my 2 rod license. One rod for chinook and one for macks if they've got any.
