Fact or fiction?

Post by TroutCowboy » Fri Jun 15, 2007 11:35 pm

saw this tacklebox (plastic lure box, to be exact) a while back that claimed to help prevent rust due to special vapors emitted by the plastic itself.

baloney?

i'm convinced half the lures i buy are because they "look like a fish would like them", so i'm probably the perfect sucker to fall for this kind of sales pitch, but i'm curious what you guys think.

but i did get the better of the "sales machine" the other day when i snagged a huge plano 737 tackle box for $10 on ebay ($60 retail). i'm now down to one tacklebox. woohoo! :thumright

If it is a Plano, the claim may be true. I don't think they would make a false claim and risk their reputation.

I agree with Marc on this one. But I bet there is a limit to how long the protection will last my guess is that its good for the first year and decreases in effectiveness all the time.

I'm pretty sure it's not a Plano model...

And to answer your question, no it doesn't work..My uncle gave me one, and it did nothing like it said to do....

I have a Flambeau tackle box with this same feature, it doesn't work. They have these little card board strips that you can put in your tackle box that absorb moisture. I just started using them this year so its a little too soon to tell how good they work, but I have heard a lot of good things about them.
