Trailers ?
Trailers ?
I have 2 14ft jon boats, and would like to pickup a trailer so I can take both boats out on weekend trips. Im going to stack both on the trailer each and every weekend. Not to worry, I have resources for welding, so they can make the necessary modifications so I can secure the 2 boats during travel.
For peace of mind, I do not want to purchase a used one from craigslist. I would rather purchase brand new.
Can someone point me in the right direction.
:king:
Thanks

RE:Trailers ?
I am a huge fan of a trailer found at... believe it or not... Fred Meyer! They sell a 4x8 metal c-channel trailer kit that is rated for 1,000lbs and is on sale right now for $189 ($199 - 10% coupon in this weekend's paper). I've towed mine from Spokane to Seattle and back, at 70+ mph and it rolls like on rails. No shake or anything. Maybe a little bouncy if loaded light, and it's got a short tongue so backing it up can be a challenge, but I absolutely love mine and use it for everything.
The kit comes complete with wheels, lighting kit and a title you can take in for registration. It also includes stake pockets so you could conceivably just build a two-tier boat rack out of lumber. I put four sides on it and haul landscaping bark, sod, pea gravel, etc, and take the front and back off and run my 14' aluminum boat right up the middle.
Perhaps the best part is that the trailer folds up flat like a ping-pong table so you can push it up against the wall of your garage for easy storage.
I can send you a few pics if interested. It's a hell of a trailer for the price. I only know the current sale price because my neighbor was so enamored with mine that he had to go get one.
good luck!

originally that was our 1st option, but we quickly found out it was too short for our application. glad it works for you though. unfortunately we have to look for something larger.

RE:Trailers ?
This time of year Costco usually carries a utility trailer. I'm not sure of the size or price, so I'm no help.

RE:Trailers ?
EZ loader trailers for small boats (14 foot length) were $650 last spring, not including licensing and tax....
Not sure if you want a utility trailer or a boat trailer...

RE:Trailers ?
Often times Craigslist has small trailors for sale and they are quality...just gotta cruise the site 24/7 for 3-4 weeks and you'll find it...persistence pays off big time!dilbert wrote:This time of year Costco usually carries a utility trailer. I have that exact trailer. I also use it for yard work, hauling lumber and carrying my jon boat. Here's a pic.TroutCowboy wrote:I am a huge fan of a trailer found at... believe it or not... Have you tried Harbor Frieght Tools before? They have a great selection of tools and a ton of other oddball items at very low prices. They also carry trailers of various designs. I have been going to Harbor Frieght for years and is where I usually buy most of my tools. Very inexpensive tools with a lifetime warrenty on most of them.
I am also looking at purchasing a trailer for my little 10' boat and I will probably end up with one of their utility trailers. They also have a boat trailer on their website but when I was in Harbor Freight's Bellevue store they did not have it on display, so mabey they have them in store just not on display. They did have the heavy duty utility trailer That I will probably buy on display along with a couple of smaller ones. Here is a link to their trailer section.

RE:Trailers ?
That's exactly how I pull my little boat. Great trailer for the price, huh? I've had almost 2,000lbs of pea gravel on it for the short haul between LL and the rock place on Trent & Harvard. My only knock against the thing is the legs you set the trailer up on when folded. I keep bending them even on the most subtle of curbs. Wish it had a better quick-release system for those legs. Or I was a welding man and I could do it myself. I see you're a Liberty Laker too. Now that I know your boat I'll watch for you on the local waters. I live in the "Meadows", east of the P.O. and south of the new Rocky Hill subdivision. PM me if interested in specifics and/or hooking up for fishing.Lotech Joe wrote:I have that exact trailer. Sorry T-DOT, got kind of off-topic. I don't know where you live, but here in Spokane on Sprague Ave. across from the valley Fred Meyer there is a place selling a variety of small utility trailers. Look like square tube steel with mesh sides, some have ramps. The kind the lawn maintenance guys always use. I can get a name & number the next time I drive by if you like, but again I don't know where you live.
I have seen the trailer Dilbert was talking about at Costco. Really nice, with round tube steel and solid walls, if I recall. Think the price was north of $500, maybe higher. I Just checked out their site and it's not on there. I would imagine you would prefer steel so you can weld your custom racks on it.

Don't know if it would be long enough for you but I had an insert in my paper today for Big R and they were selling a 5x8 trailer with ramp for $599. Check your newspaper, maybe it was inserted in yours too.
Good luck!
