Roosevelt lauches

Post by gfrost » Tue Jan 06, 2015 10:59 am

Was thinking about coming over from Cd'A this coming weekend to fish Roosevelt.
What are the launches like this time of the year, Seven Bays, Fort Spokane? [confused]

Bring sand bags, the launches can ice over in the winter, you may need to spread some sand getting out. Also, be careful going down into the various ramps as the roads going down can be icy, narrow, curvy, and steep. 4 WD advised.

Since his location is Idaho he should be aware of slick roads. Since it is in the mid 30's right now no much to worry about. If it was in the teens or lower perhaps!! This is why we live on the "Right" side of the state it's called 4 season's

They already are clean. I launched at Seven Bays yesterday, roads clear, a little ice/slush on Seven Bays road, but nothing to be concerned about. Launch is bare, wet, with LOTS of sand/gravel which is actually a traction detriment right now. No need for 4wd to launch or recover, I didn't need it yesterday. Sliding on the sand/gravel while backing down and braking on the launch might be a bit spooky, but it's par for the course this time of year and you get used to it if you launch often in winter. this time of year it is a tuff choice!!! I want to haul the boat to Roosevelt, but I also saw a cooler earlier this week that had some Snake river fish in it. If the weather stays I'm thinking its a coin toss. ](*,)
