Re: Columbia river help
Tri-cities is great. Vantage Pool was great the one time I fished it back in '02. The down river pools from Tri-cities are good also all the way to Portland.
Watch out for the underwater, mid-river shallows/shoals. Follow the buoys for "red - right return".

Re: Columbia river help
Thanks for heads up! Never fished the Columbia before and going with my buddy who has fished it a couple of times. He's recommending the Dalles area but we're not firm on any area as of yet. Just know we will not be targeting chinook/steelhead but trolling and casting from his boat and along the bank if needed...
Re: Columbia river help
If I were you I'd go to the trouble to go to a map store and get a map of the area you want to fish.
Oh ya, I did just that back in the early '90s. They'll show you the channel and everything so you don't run aground, thosr underwater rock cliffs are very unforgiving.
There is/was a map store in Bellevue, but you should be able to look online for a map store and go from there.
