Itermediate classes around seattle
Hey guys,
I was looking around at some lessons the other day that I could take to improve my skills as a fly fisherman and I found that short of a full guided float, (which I think most of us know can be pretty expensive) there was not many other options. I originally went out to find a salmon/steelhead class since last year I tried it for the first time (I am mostly a trout guy) and got COMPLETLY skunked on a pink run year. If you have any suggestions or even any little salmon/steelhead tips I would appreciate it very much.
Tight lines!

Some people go to church or the temple or the mosque or where ever one practices religion and dream about being in their favorite fishing spot and others go fishing and see their god(s) reflected back at them in the amazing nature around them.

Have you looked into the local community colleges? I've seen classes listed in their non-credit adult evening classes.NWFshHntr wrote:Hey guys,

Sorry just realized this was a super old thread....

There is a guy in Kent. He was at the Sportsman show in Puyallup in Jan. Don't know what kind of fish he fishes for, but basic fly casting is the same regardless of the quarry.

If you're on a budget or just don't want to spend the going rates from the shops or guides, I would suggest looking at joining one of the local area fly fishing clubs. Most hold classes for tying, rod building and casting. Most of the clubs have outing on a regular basis, I would guess there is a fair amount of mentoring to be had on the outings. Most of the clubs have a vast amount of knowledge itching to be passed on.

The following clubs offer lessons that are held at Green Lake. Fees are typically in the $40 to $50 range and classes are 6 to 8 weeks long.

As a member, I know the NWFA classes are pretty much about casting and casting alone. That's why I suggest joining a club as the best learning is to be done on the outings with mentors. They have specific mentoring outings but I've found the more experienced fly fishers are more than willing to share the finer points on the regular outings.
