Hoping to get down there tuseday afternoon. Leave some for me I need to catch something other than the 8" cutthroat I nearly launched into orbit last week. Hard hookset mentality, right after a freshly mended drift with a very short drop below the float. That poor cutt flew about 15 feet through the air towards me.

Really need to catch some steel.

I went to the skook today, got there at 6:30, lots of people already there but I did see some fish pulled up until about 9am. I think the sun killed the bite. I fished it all the way until dark and finally got one right at the end! tomorrow's gonna be a madhouse but they're in there

My first steelhead came from this wednesday. I lost alot of steel at the jig. I am definitely going to take kockmandoo's advice and step it up to 15# test as most fish lost were at 12# last outing. I didn't realize how sharp their teeth were until I finally landed my first. They were definitely hitting the same two jig types as last. Too bad cabelas is out of them and Wholesale Sports in Lacey has a abundant amount of them and they close tomorrow. I love being able to feed the family and share the rest with friends as well. I smoked it up for 45 mins and the rest on high with alder pellets on the traeger. This was a tasty fish indeed. They are in there!

No, not at all. It was down in the fields. A fishy looking spot, that I have been working. Pic was taken at different location (field parking lot)to not reveal it, not that anyone that fishes them can't figure it out. I don't have a zipper lip mentality so if you're interested just hit me up!

Fishing in the fields is awesome. I also fish the fields a lot. not crowded at all, unlike the hatchery and there are many fishy spots. Glad you got one and hopefully many more in the future.

Nice job Gordi! Thats a pretty fish! Were you using a nightmare pattern jig? Red beard, glad you pulled one out before the end, makes the drive not so bad! While I was at work today my husband took a trip to the skook. He hooked a nice buck on the old trusty pearl pink corkie with mikes glo shrimp scent. 32in colored buck at 12.5lbs, not punched!

Thanks! It measured 35" without squeezing the tail and weighed quite a bit as I had to keep switching hands to carry it over my shoulders to my car. I tried to post pics of the measuring tape next to the fish but was having too much trouble shrinking the size so here's a on the spot pic. Any additional info, just PM me. Happy fishing!

Ha i had used that jig about a month ago then lost it. Never hit anything on it. I got it at defiance marine by the bremeron airport, they have a really good assortment of jigs. That is a pig of a buck!

Yes it was! One of the most stocked jigs on the shelf while the nightmares were gone at cabelas. I picked a few up while at wholesale sports, but am thinking about going back tomorrow to get the rest as I bought the last two nightmare pattern jigs that work on the skook! Good luck everyone and happy fishin!!!

I'm having trouble loading the fish from yesterdays excursion... I guess the file is too big, but it looks like the sister to the one you put up schu, just over 31". I have heard a lot about that nightmare jig but this one was caught on eggs. She's a little darker than I thought, I had to borrow a head lamp just to clean it (thanks rob!) but for the drive its not too bad. I will be back maybe next week
