so 20 lb mainline, swivel, cut lead weight, depending on current, longer leader, 1/0 hook, and a little yarn? is that the trick there? is it a fast moving river?

I was there last weekend and it was nutz, I fished a few holes with eggs and lost them all. I also went up to this part where near the rocks where you could see them. The best part was when people were flossing and yanking in front of the warden

. I don't know this river well but I later went near the purdy corner (i think)and talked to someone who fished eggs in the am as well. I may be there friday or Saturday, anyone making the trip?

Its not like the sky its alot slower and smaller most people use like 1/2 oz cannon balls instead of lead .

In my opinion the cannon balls cast better with the heavyer line get into the strike zone faster and dont come off when I get hung up unless I break off.

I was doing good with 2 1/2oz cannonballs ut 3/4oz is the best, gotta have that slow presentation and my theory behind the cannonball is that they look like a pebble or rock unlike pencil lead so then they just sneak up on the fish and WHAM!

jk, zef you can find them anywhere, on the beach, in snags, or even in the water or parking lot, just make sure you use a heavier main line then your leader so you are not losing wts all the time.

How do the tides affect the Skok, can high tide stop current? Does the water level really get up there?

I have noticed that sometimes high tides can impact places well above 106 bridge and at the red gate off purdy cutoff but high tide brings in fish and pushes the downstreamers up.
How do you guys rig your float and eggs for kings and coho in the skok?

cannon balls tend to hangup less.. if you asked me.. they have a faster drop rate i think too.. better for swifter currents and snaggy spots to get the gear in front of the fish.

Thanks, I'm staying at Belfair for the weekend to do some crabbing on the Hood with family. Hopefully I can break free to try my luck. The tides do not look ideal this weekend, at least for my experience fishing other tidal rivers. I'll be looking for a place to float some eggs.

If you're fishing a short fast slot i prefer to use Canon balls cause they get your gear down faster. the kings hug the bottom so sometimes when you're using pencil lead your gear drifts right over them.

yeah kzoo you can find bobber water anywhere below 101 but 106 bridge down is more for bobber water but people use floats upstream as well in numerous places but I am partial to drift fishing eggs since they are tight to the bottom in most places. How do you rig your bobber rig?

bobber, leader enough to have eggs tumble on bottom, hook. do that
