Global site search

Sorry if this is has been noted before but I think it would be great to be able to have a search box on the home page that will search across any/all parts of the site for key words or user names and then get a list sorted by date.

You are half correct. That is the search feature for the forums.

The site is made of up two seperate areas, each with it's own code. The main content is the reports, articles, videos, featured lakes, etc, etc. There is 12+ years of information there, stuff I've long since forgotten about. But it's all there and there is a lot of great info to research. The search feature for the main site is here:

WashingtonLakes.com Search Tool

(BTW, you can reach it from the Home Menu, then "Search")

The second part of the site is the forum. This is also search-able, from the "search" link on it's pages as noted above. It will only search forum topics. The forum is about three years old. Again, lot's of great information. The forum uses a whole seperate code from the main site. Aaron created the main site from the ground up, while the forum is pre-build and incorporated into the main site.

As to whether the two could ever be searched with one tool, I honestly don't know. That would be a question for Aaron to answer.

Ah, that explains it. Maybe if there is an API on the COTS forum software that would allow you to submit a search query programmatically and return the results, then the original code base's search could call out to the forum app and return consolidated results?

thanks for the quick reply.
