Thanks guys! This makes sense now. I didn't understand why I wasn't catching anything and thought perhaps I was going about it all wrong. I finally managed to catch my first trout on a mepps UV lure just a few days ago. I believe it was a rainbow. I tried to keep the damage minimal and returned it to the lake. I noticed there were others that were just catch and release. I don't eat fish so it was purely the challenge of catching one.
