This is my first year salmon fishing and I'm finding it to be pretty addictive. I look forward to catching a big King! I have seen a thread about chum salmon and will be trying for them as well.
You are in for a ride with the chums!!!!!! I am new to salmon fishing but I got hooked onto chums early on. Take a smallies awesome fight and add amplify with pound for pound sheer bulldog brute strength. That is the fight of a chum; They are strong enough to spool a 201 Curado D.

King: Never targetted
Silver: Lost my first hook up ever at Dash Point fishing for pinks. Other than that, never intentionally targetted
Pink: Dash Point dock, buzz bomb, drop shotted pink worm. More lost to seal than caught.
Chum: Green River from the bank. Double lime geen corky with pink yard and smelly jelly scent. Hold on to your rod and reel!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sockeye: Never targetted

Hoodsport Hatchery zone, combat fishing but I caught a chromer and someone else caught a chromer, nice firm red meat.

I think I cuaght around 6 or 7 total, and hooked pleanty more.

Lots of big schools of fish just a few feet right in front of you bring chest waders and prepare for rain.

I have to say that I saw a bright net caught 64 pound king when I worked at Bumblebee Seafoods in B'ham. The fish had about 20 broken mooching leaders trailing from his mouth. Must have been a whole lot of fishermen talking about the one that got away as it swam down the coast -snap! snap! snap! ... and boy were they right!

Helped a guy try to weigh what turned out to be a chrome bright 66 pound king his wife hooked while fishing for halibut in southeast Alaska (Petersburg). You don't have to be the one that caught a fish this big to know it is an awesome specimen. Still think about those two - even though I didn't catch them.

FYI it is legal to fish lucia falls as long as you are 100 feet above or 100 feet below the falls. i have fished with jayboy and his cousins there and it is legal

-King - Not sure but i know none over 15lbs, and plus i have only caught maybe 9 or 10, and proboly had help on most of them, cause i caught them all when i was little, exept one this year

-Silver - 12 lbs, sept 2007, Ilwaco

- Pink - only caught one, it was from a pier and got stolen by a sea lion or seal, it looked average sized, but i dont think that counts since i didnt land it.
