My Mercury 9.8 just quit - NEED NEW ENGINE!
Hi all,
My mercury 9.8 just quit on me, low compression on the lower cylinder- and BIG repair.
I need an engine! I'm about loosing it, how the hell am I supposed to fish?!?!?
18 HP or less would work on my boat, more than willing to pay a fair price for a good engine.
Please help me out! Checked Ebay and CL with no luck!

When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

Call local Marinas and boat dealerships.
If you go new, I would suggest Yamaha. I've got a new one two years ago, not a single hiccup yet, haven't even needed to change plugs. And I run it hard, still, no problems with it. 15hp 2 stroke Yamaha...

Everybody likes to support their own items in terms of brands... but I have to totally agree with Kafelafish on the yamahas. I have a 25 hp Merc. which is a 2007. yes it's quiet, and very reliable, but i rode in a 40 hp yamaha last weekend, and at full throttle you didn't even have to shout at all.
