Fishing after a thunderstorm?
Theres a thunderstorm warning for tonight. I was planning on going out in the morning. Do you guys think that fishing would be any good after a thunderstorm?

Skimpy... were the fish watching the lightening too? Looks like it was mostly south west of the Tapps area. How was the catch?

On October 3, 1981 I was fishing for bass on King County's Pipe Lake during a heavy downpore and lots of lighting strikes. I wasn't killed and caught a 5 pound, 4 ounce largemouth on a black Jig. Don't recall if it was reported in the "Tacoma News Tribune" or not.
A nice bass is too valuable a resource to enjoy catching only once.

I'm from the midwest, we always did really well right before a t-storm. We would do pretty well right after as well, but need to catch it before the sun comes out then it seems to die down.

Well I went out this morning and I'm still alive. Didn't catch any, but a few bumps. The lightning stopped, but still rained a little.

I was out in the thunderstorms last night on Island Lake (Kitsap) and stayed until dark. Thought the fishing would be better, but it was still pretty tough. Only managed a couple dinks, one on a black Trick worm and one on a black buzzbait. I've had good luck other places (GA and TX) just before, during, and after thunderstorms. The storm usually coincides with a drop in the barometric pressure, which turns on the bite, so the fishing is usually best in the hours right before the storm hits, in my experience. In some lakes, the rain itself will start the fish feeding, as it washes critters into the lake.
