That fish is a little over a pound shy of my largest out of Lake Washington or any lake for that matter. There are some big girls to be found in this lake and one of these days it just might yield a new State record.

Well then, rather than looking it up. I will ask, how close was YOUR personal best Smally to the current state record?

The biggest smallie I have personally caught was a 6.4 and then a 6.3 last year and that was 2lbs 8oz off tying the state record. They are out there. I saw an easy 7+ on a lake last year hope to find her this year.

As I think that the State record is somewhere around 9lbs my personal best would have to have put on a little over 3lbs to crack that mark. I do recall seeing a pic of a fish that a guest fishing on Slimy Slab's boat caught that went 7lbs 5oz. That was a couple years back and was a serious pig of a fish, I can't imagine what that fish would look like 2 pounds heavier.

State record Smallie is 8 pounds, and I think 12 oz.

edit: 8.75 lbs, that is 8lbs 12 oz.

Here are two pictures from the Freeze your bass blast on Sammamish at the end of February.
I was lucky enough to fish with Mark Maderos and he and I put a whooping on em and ended winning the tourney with a 3 fish limit for 10.15lbs with a big fish of 4.12lb. This tournament only uses a 3 fish limit. We caught 9 fish all day and all of our fish were caught on a dropshot in 47-59ft. Caught fish on a cut bait as well as a dropshot bait I personally make called the money shot.

Thanks Kzoo.
It was a tough bite for most but we had a few kep spots and gave em a different presentation even when fishing around other boats that I believe was the key to our success.

Thanks guys, i cant think of the name right now. If i come up with label i will share but i think i threw them away (labels). They are pretty old though, left over from my grampas fishing gear and they have been in his box for years.. so the company might not be around anymore.

FM and FNF nice catches. Hey machine nice job on the tourney. I have to say that most of my bigger bass come off the ole plastic worm.It amazes me how many slams I get on the worms.

"Fear No.." Approx how long was the "worm" ? Single piece, or multiple "arms"? I usually just fish the 4-6" Senkos, but have alot to learn! I picked up some 12" jobs at Bass Pro but haven't had a chance to try them yet. Also picked up some "Chompers" at Cabela's which are basically "things" that resemble everything (and nothing) that crawl along the bottom but have worked pretty well both in AZ and WA.

FNF-pretty darn good 1st of the year. That is a very unusual worm indeed.
