Wanted - 4 to 10 hp outboard

Post by SnohoBassGuy » Sun Mar 15, 2009 1:45 pm

I'm looking to purchase a reliable outboard for my 12'. I have just been having some poor luck with motors lately. Johnson, Evinrude, Mercury, Sears, it dont matter, as long as it will start up, run, and keep me fishing without hassle.

Please PM me or reply here.

Much appreciated.

Hey guys, if anyone knows of something similar, I have a friend looking for the same thing over here in the Spokane Area. The boat is old, but looks to be reliable, so he wants a motor that is similar - old but reliable. LOL

I am thinking around $450.00 for it but make me an offer if you think that it is to high.

1969 might be a bit old. I'm looking for something really reliable.

Thank you though.

Wishin, I think Spokane might be a tad bit far for me to get a motor :compress:

Wishin, let me know the price with a PM and I'll pass this on to my friend.

snohobass have you checked craigslist for the seattle tacoma area. I'm looking right now and theres a 7.5hp mercury longshaft for 475 out of Pt. angeles that was posted today, and a 6hp evinrude short shaft in tacoma for 500. If you haven't checked it out you might want to it's updated daily.

Wishin, the price is not bad, but my friend just got talked into wanting a 9 or 10 HP by his son. I think that it is a bit over-sized, but I can understand.

Is it a long shaft or a short shaft motor, it might make a good kicker on my boat, and if not mine, then perhaps someone else's on here.

I have been looking on Craigslist about every two hours, and I saw a screaming deal on there for a 9.9 for $250. Apparently they didnt know their prices too well. Unfortunatelly I called to late.

My price range is limited, but that also is limiting what I can get. I really want a 7-10 hp, but somehow I dont think I will find one I can afford.

Greens, that 5 hp sounds great. I'm looking at 9.9 tomorrow (Sunday). If I dont pick that one up, I will definitely be giving you a holler. If not, then someone else should pick that one up lol.

Thanks.

Well, I picked up the 9.9. Got a great deal on it too. Its a 1996 Mercury 9.9 and I got it for only $500.

Should we leave this thread open for Greenskeeper's motors? His are good deals too.
