Love some of the comments posted; "we must send them aid." "we must help them."

Anything we DID send them would be unaccepted at the borders, or worse, taken by the military or government officials for their own use.

Some people just like to stare at the writing on the wall hoping they will see something other than whats there.

well,we have never left,the war is still going between north and south korea,we have around 30,000 troops in south korea,...but i personaly think,that we need to stop protecting other peoples borders,bring our troops home have them protect our borders...we cant solve all these problems around the world without solving our own first,that's like say you need to pay your rent,but your friend needs help paying their rent,you help them,then you cant pay your rent,pay your rent first,then help out what you can,

First of all. Our govt dosent want to believe that we have problems here in our own land. We go to other countries trying to help but we get spit on,kidnapped,tortured,invaded by the same people we try to help. Some people only know of war and killing. Theyve lived centuries killing their neighbors.They wont bring troops home too soon. Bring them home to no work and no jobs?No way.Pretty soon you'll go to Lowes and Home Depot to hire American Veterans.

Those are peacekeeping troops, meant to guard the border. But North Korea is still communist. The reason why we should help other countries solve their problems when we have "problems of our own" is because our problems are miniscule compared to theirs. We have heated debates about budget deficits. We argue about gays in the military and women in combat. We have grand debates about banning AR's and flag burning. Other countries have to deal with starvation. In some countries they don't even have free access to the internet. You are convicted of treason and sentenced to death if you question the government. In Iraq before we intervened, folks were rounded up and executed and put in mass graves. They are still digging up the remains and identifying the bodies to this day. In the Bosnian war there folks were killed in genocide, ethnic cleansing. In Africa, children are kidnapped and forced to fight in tribal warfare.

We have more than enough in our country to "pay our rent". We have freedoms and liberties that the citizens of other countries can't even imagine. We are the leaders of the free world, and we have a moral obligation to lead other nations to become more like us. If your neighbors house was on fire, would you just look out the window and watch it burn? No, you would call the fire department and ask them to come and do their job, get your neighbors blankets and bring them inside and give them comfort. Not only because that's what you'd want them to do for you, but if you let the fire burn, it's going to spread over the fence and demolish the entire neighborhood. If you were walking home from the store and you saw a group of armed men raping and beating a young woman, would you call the police, or just remain behind the safety of the borders of your car.

The US policy of isolationism is one reason why WW2 got so bad. We can't end every conflict in the third world of course, but we should do everything that we can to stop our neighbors from burning down their own houses.

i personaly feel that our troops should be here at home protecting our own borders not some other countries borders,i dont see any other country's troops deployed on the us mexico border lol.come to think of it do we even have troops deployed at the us/mexico border?

As far as the Mexican border..

Granted, there will always be something, but the way things are changing (albeit slowly) it wont be as big an issue as it used to be.

Our economy sucks so bad many illegals are going back on thier own accord (in fact they are now having issues in Mexican Elementary Schools because of the influx of english-only speaking kids entering the school systems down there and nobody to teach them).
And as pot gets legalized in more and more states, that will take some of the wind out of the cartels smuggling both pot and people over the border.

It's not the cartels that determine what sells. It is the masses. I didn't say it would eliminate em...

well,what should happen,is pull our troops out of the middle east,bring them back home,deploy around 40,000 national gaurd on the border,send in around 50,000 us troops into mexico to do join operations with the mexican millitary,go door to door,arrest take the guns and drugs,and squash them little farts lol

And they act like it's all the U.S.'s fault that they are in whatever situation they are in, and that the U.S. is obligated to fix it for them. And then they call us racists for pointing out to them that they broke the law and are criminals for doing so.

Yes. Our immigration system IS broken. Due in no small part to whiny feel-good hopefuls in politics trying to buy votes.

Back to the original topic, we never should have left Korea until the job was done. The people in the north are either madly in love with their government for making their lives better (the few who are lucky enough to have governement supported jobs) or they are in fear for their very lives because they know the governement for what it really is.
