RE:Thieves
thieves suck. they ruined my salmon season. jacked the yamaha 9.9 off my dads boat.
the worst part is, we found out it was gone the day we went to take it home to PREVENT IT FROM BEING STOLEN.

RE:Thieves
Stole your ball?
I don't know that I have ever heard that before. I remember when I was younger kids stealing Mercedes emblems off the hoods of cars. Or maybe even taking the tire valve covers off if they were cool, but never have I heard of some one stealing a tow ball. Must of needed one pretty bad. There boat will sink the next time out.

RE:Thieves
I've got spares in a couple different drops.......... the balls are easy to go on but never seem to come off too friendly.

RE:Thieves
Get a locking pin for your hitch....
It sucks that thieves have to ruin it for the rest of us...Kickers have become a huge target for thieves...Easy to rip off a boat and pretty good $$$ in em....
Unfortunately times are different then they were a few decades ago and people are desperate enough to steal from others...Hope karma comes back at them...
Glad you had a spare so you could hit the water...

RE:Thieves
I make sure to lock up my hitch and spare tires and I always have a cable and lock on my kicker. I know it won't stop a determined/professional thief but it deters most of the morons. The one thing I haven't yet done is get a locking nut for my props and main motor. I really hate thieves, I would not be against removing one of their hands every time they get caught.

RE:Thieves
They'll steal a kicker anytime, easy money! I never leave mine out of my sight for even a minute with out it being locked. I lost the last one off the stern parked in front of my house with people home and my neighbor the sheriff two houses down and home with his car parked out front. It was locked to the boat with a Kryptonic lock "unbreakable or cuttable". The 2 neighbors across the street were home. It was in the middle of the day. The only thing anyone saw was a black gardening truck stopped in front of my next door neighbors for just a minute.......... The neighbor across the street thought they were putting flyiers on the mailboxes. After a couple break-ins all the neighbors sport guns and keep our eyes open. Video from both sides of the street now. I pitty the fools...... not really.

RE:Thieves
Ive 2 motorcycles stolen when i lived in the UK both were chained up...my mate had his stolen from behind his car in a one car garage..another mate had his stolen locked and parked. The CCTV caught them driving up in a van snipping the lock sticking a stcik in the front and back wheel and walking it into the van.... against pro you have no hope against morons a lock will deter....

RE:Thieves
Did they cut the hitch lock or was there no lock? Just curious. I feel for you and absolutely hate thieves. In fact theft is the number one complaint we get at work every day of the week. I believe we take maybe 8 to 10 theft complaints every day at work, usually stemming from vehicle prowls.
I never leave my boat alone out of my sight after I leave my residence. I make sure that I have everything I will need before I leave so I am not forced to leave my boat and all the gear sitting in it unattended, for someone to take while I go into a store for something. As I mentioned, we receive many theft complaints and each year some of them involve stolen boat kickers and often times boat equipment and fishing gear that people leave in their boats parked outside at their homes.
My lake boat is on the side of my house, empty and blocked in by my truck. My Hewescraft is in my garage loaded and ready to go. I never leave my stuff alone for even a few minutes, not even at the dock, and I have so far avoided becoming the victim of a theft related to by boats or gear. Maybe I'm just lucky but I think not giving the crook a chance is why I haven't had my stuff stolen.
Sorry to hear about your experience.
