What areas do you primarily fish?

I am pretty new to Area 13. This season will only be my third season fishing MA13. If this season is as good as last season fishing MA13 I have lots to look forward to. Before moving to Lacey I fished MA11 a lot and had great success.

I've been scoping out Area 13 all winter... wanted to get out a few times, but my boats are small
and the weather was horrific.... when the weather was nice the tides were wrong.. when the tides
were right the weather was ugly....


Should make my first trial runs next week... tides are right for the way I fish on the 10th and preliminary weather
report is encouraging.... however, won't be making any solid plans until the 9th....

One interesting factoid about Area 13...... During the month of May it is open for blackmouth, Lings, rockfish, and cabs....

so I'm going to be out working the edges out around anderson island as much as possible this month.....

will be using Luhr beach ramp... maybe I'll see you in the access area..

Area 9 all the way for me...
Occasional area 10 or 8-2, with the occasional Sekiu trips...

That's the ramp I use. I live five minutes from there. I will be there a lot come July and August.

Come on EL... Lingcod closes June 15... If you're only fishing July and August then the
total focus is fall run chinook.... gotta expand the horizons guy...




I've heard there's some nice ling out there and I seriously doubt that all the legal blackmouth have been caught...


I'm hoping to get out 2 or 3 times this month to try and figure out the lay of the land but will be focusing on the Columbia behind Bonneville from mid June until October.. probably won't be back to Luhr beach again until december when the Nisqually Winter chum run starts showing up......... I really wanted to work that run last Dec. and Jan. All dressed up and ready to boogy but it was like "lights out windy" every time I had a day off to go fishing... maybe next winter will be more forgiving....

I might make a trip out for lings this year. I still have lots of exploring to do in MA13. All in time. I do want to fish the winter chum run that the Nisqually gets. But, like you said, weather is a serious consideration.

Just checked the Lacey forecast on weather.com...

looks like a stable high pressure is coming in on Tuesday
and the nice weather is gonna last for a few days this time...


I'm definitely getting psyched now... found some fishy looking spots
along the southern shores of Anderson Island on the charts and am looking
forward to trying them out.......

first time jaunts into new territory are always hit and miss though.... but
you always know that even if you don't catch anything you'll learn something
that will help you do better the next time....

Since I live 2 minutes from the Mukilteo Park launch 8-1, 8-2, and 9 are my usual areas. Since 9 is open for clipped kings (been closed for 15 years) I'll be fishing close to home. Hope I remember how!!!

I love to fish salt water. I liv a mile or two from the Des Moines Marina and during the late summer early fall the salmon run through pretty strong and you catch a couple a day the only problem is catching one that is big enough to keep, but there isnt a size limit on the cohos. My favorite place is Westport I make a couple of trips out there a year mostly to crab but while waiting Ill go up to the fishing boardwalk and catch a whole bunch of dogfish for fun. I use to fish for salmon a lot more but in the last couple of years Ive pretty much stuck to freshwater

That will be a lot of fun to go after those kings this year!

(although I did go chum fishing there last December, that fishery is alive and well!)

I like to do some surf and jetty, or charter boat fishing out of Westport at least four times a year. Nothing quite like being on the ocean.

Im used to fishing area 8-2 and 9. They get the runs of silvers and humpies which usually mean a good time for us. As far as lings go I head up to 6 or stay on the westside of 9

I'm going to Area 9 for lings when my shrimp pots are soaking this saturday...

Yeah the humpies I believe are every two years...correct me if im wrong though. I cant wait for those guys either...much more fun and active then silvers. Im going to spear fish for lings when the season opens up. Never done it before but since I got my scuba qualification, I gotta give it a shot

They are also expecting a banner year for humpies returning back to the Green and Puyallup rivers. Too bad the king run back to the Puyallup this year is not suppose to be good.
