Des monies crabbing

Post by gpc » Wed Jul 18, 2007 1:37 pm

Who has gone down to the pier in Des moines to crab yet? My buddy has gone down 3 times and limited every day. You are only allowed to crab from wed. - sat., but I went down and got my licence today. When I went down to through in my pots, 2 guys were walking up w/ their limits and there were buckets full of crab all over the pier.

Well I left my pots unattended and didnt know it was illegal. Thank god I didnt get a fine, but a man informed me down at the pier, so now I know. But I only walked a way with one keeper today. It was a red rock crab and Im eating it tonight. The way I look at it is my $15 crabbing licence is already 1/2 way paid for

I was just talking with a friend tonight about doing that same thing. Either Des Moines or Redondo. But he was saying that theres a warning of contamination for all bottom fish and shellfish on the East side of the sound. I couldn't find anything in the booklet, but I havn't checked the wdfw website yet. I'll look into this before I try that.
