Hello everybody!

Post by Rabbits » Fri Feb 22, 2008 4:14 am

Hi Guys, Gals,

I am new to the forum and new to saltwater fishing. Thought I would give it a go and introduce myself. I live in Bellingham, WA (originally from Lynnwood) and am very interested in trying out the Sound from shore.

No luck yet, but soon enough. I think the trick is I need to stop waking up at noon. #-o

I hope I can bring some good info to the site.
I have been fishing all my life. My most experience is in fly-fishing lakes. Next would be bass fishing. Oh wait I take it all back and would say I have the most experience at untangling lines. :-$

So hello to all.

Welcome to the site Rabbits,
You'll find this a dandy place to exchange information and meet folks. You'll probably also gain a few fishing partners.
Where you go is less important than how you get there.

Welcome to the site.
I am going to try to saltwater fishing this year for slamon, only by the Pt.Defience area. I have read articles about shore fishing by the clay banks from Owen Beach at Pt. Defience park. I have read an article about shore fishing from Whidbey Island, too. I think it would be fun to catch something large from shore.
Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook

He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

Good steelhead runs up in the northern Washington area rivers right now. I know it's not exactly easy to get started with, but it's just an idea...

try fishing from the beach below deception pass on the park side a little before - a little after the tide change with big white curly tail jigs off the bottom. i have caught some nice lingcod and cabizon there. you need to cast as far out as you can and jig it back. <')//<

Welcome to the family Rabbits. Be sure to introduce yourself in the Announcements Forum. Here is the thread: http://www.washingtonlakes.com/Forum/vi ... .php?t=455
Check it out. Great way to find out about a couple of us on here, where we live and what species we like to target.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I hit up Fazon Lake near b-ham with no luck. I wrote a report up with some info I found out from a WDFW ranger dude I met there.

Pretty cool history, he gave me this link. wdfw.wa.gov/fish/warmwater/library/97fazonlake.pdf . Or just type in ' fazon lake' in google and it is about the third link down. The 1997 survey one.

I also went off the shore by Larrabee state park. Lost a bunch of herring and no fish, but it was fun.

thanks guys

I always agree with the idea of, "crab pots". Deception Pass is also a good suggestion. This is a great site and there is a ton of fishing knowledge here from great folks. So welcome aboard. I know during the pink salmon season, many are tossin buzz bombs from shore at Deception Pass State Park. Other areas of Deception Pass are good fo cod and I believe you can also go after silvers when they are running by and its open. Cranberry lake at Deception Pass State Park is also a great lake (especially from a boat trolling a green dick nite spoon) and will be very good beginning in about 4 or 5 more weeks, after the plant and after the water warms a bit. Obviously Pass Lake for fly fishing (year round C&R) and Heart and Erie Lakes located just before Campbell Lake (on the way to Deception Pass - take a right as you approach Campbell Lake and go a couple miles, you run right into Erie, and take a right at the Erie store to Heart lake) both are great trout lakes. Again, welcome, and good luck fishin.
