I believe area 10 is closed right now. EB king fishing in the summer is a difficult yet rewarding fishery. Getting a fish a day is a good day no doubt.

I too like areas 8.2 and 9 for salmon.Unfortunately 8.2 was no chinook or coho retention last summer.I do almost all my crabbing in 8.2 and dont like to leave my pots where I cant keep an eye on them.
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

Admiralty inlet and the waters west of Whidbey Island. About all salmon that filter in to the sound must go through this stretch of water. The well known areas include Point No Point, Pilot Point, Double Bluff, Possession Point, Useless bay, Mutiny Bay, Bush Point, Fort Ebey....I do most of my salmon fishing in this area...

Not very rough. It's still the inner Puget Sound, although that stretch can get rough. Usually it isn't. It's never too much worse then EB or area 10.

I use all sorts of stuff. Flashers, dodgers in front of lures such as coyote spoons and coho killers, sonic edges, etc. I don't love hootchies but the new Ace Hi Fly has my attention and I like that.

Most productive spot? Any of them are good. Depending on the species of salmon. I could list off a dozen or so spots, but some are my secret spots. Point No Point, Possession Point, are all popular spots and aren't much more then a 15 minute ride from the Edmonds launch or Mukilteo.

If you think the EB king fishery is promising, you will be shocked at how much more productive area 9 is. Every king that turns the corner to the north sound and every king that heads south to the south sound passes through this section of water....

I fish it a lot in a 12 foot aluminum with a 15 horse motor and it's usually calm enough for me to run across from Possession to PnP or somewhere else....

The most productive spot will change with the runs of fish. I think Sam summed it up real succinctly in his previous post(s). No one spot is going to be good day after day after day, but Area-9 as a whole one of the best areas in the state...I also love areas 3 and 4

But with those aside, you should find ample opportunity right out there this summer when the regulations allow for fishing. Remember to follow the regs. Coyote spoons are awesome, but there is something about a crippled anchovy that I just love...it gets the bigger fish up in Barclay Sound in the summer months off Cree Island and Kirby Point...all well known salmon hot spots in the summer months...just too many areas to fish and not enough time. I would say the ratio can be 1:3 for the kings on the hatchery to native ratio, 3 being native, 1 being hatchery...Average king can change as well as certain runs come thru...I would say 20 pounds is a good fish during the summer, however, high 40's have been taken in inner Elliot Bay. EB is a good fishery...you must be out there at like 4am though with your lines in the water...many times the salmon will strike at 4:45am or 5:00am and then the bite dies off until around 7-8am and then it gets good again and then just shuts off until late in the day 7-9pm...it can then come on again then. In between that window you can catch fish, it's just not qutie as productive.

I'm not gonna tell you my most productive spot out there. Point No Point and Pilot Point were quite popular and productive, as was Possession. Average wild fish was usually over 15 lbs. Those had to be released. Hatchery fish were anywhere from the barely legal hatchery blackmouth to some of the upper teens and into the 20lb range.

Similar regs as Area 10, but don't just take it as a shortcut. Check those regs before you go out. Most of the fish that came in and bit my line last summer were hatchery. But probably 60-40. (60 % clipped, so keepable.)

I've seen some fish in the 30lb range taken last summer. I'd be willing to bet a few of those big kings were headed down to EB..

yeah those are good odds of getting a hatchery
out in elliot bay it was legal to reatin wild last year so the biggest king landed out there was 48 pounds
so is poss. point or point no point the best for kings besides your spot

You can ask probably 10 saltwater anglers what their "best spot" is and I'd be willing to be you would get probably 5 different answers. Possession point and Point no Point are popular for good reason. They produce fish.
