I have a similar foggy story, lol. but suffice it to say that the GPS is great. When my wife and I went from Bellingham to Friday Harbor last month it gave me a lot of respect for those who can do it with just a map because even with the GPS different coves, Bays, and Harbors all looked identical to a first time visitor. I imagine a sailor at under 8 knots with no electronics could get lost pretty easy.

Its not knowing where I am, its the boat traffic that concerns me. I have two Garmin GPS receivers in my Seahawk, a charting GPS on boat power and a regular GPS that operates on boat power or batteries, both on RAM mounts. Also plenty of waypoints. I've had at least one GPS in my boats since I bought a Magellan in 1995.

Just makes me nervous with all these guys blasting around at full throttle in the fog. One day last year the fog closed in from Mulk to Everett in the afternoon. I couldnt see a thing until I was right next to the green buoy next to the Navy dock. Then I discovered there were three other boats right around me I didnt even know were there!

No fog, today was nice, calm water, the run continues! Posted this report.

Launched at Everett 6:45AM, three rods. I was worried about the fog, I didn't need to, it was clear and nice. Dropped the gear just south of Mulk and got the first Silver while we were putting the gear down! Got it in the boat and a short time later had a double and got them both. Trolled around Mulk until 9AM and nothing else. That is the way Mulk has always been for me, Silvers early first half hour or so and then nada. Trolled south with the tide, picked up another mile north of the Wreck and then two more around Picnic Pt and we had our 6 by 10:15. Back at the launch, the fishchecker said all the boats so far had limits. 60-70 feet on the DR, trolled fast, flasher, dark green glow squid, two twinkle skirts, lit with a 35mm camera flash and a salted herring strip, the usual. Tenth time in a row we limited the boat. Just another day in this wonderful fishery.

our next trip is Tuesday. Only concern is weather, the fish will be in for awhile - and getting bigger.

What size for you?

Kind of this years standard smaller class, around 6 pounds. They seem a little smaller than last year, nice healthy fish though. Silvers always seem to have two size classes. The smaller size and the 20% or so that run 10 pounds or more. None of the larger class today. The fleet seemed to be way south today, 3-4 miles south of the Wreck. Plenty of fish early around Mulk and then later at the Wreck. I'll be there tomorrow. You need to get more time off!

I wish. I'd like to get in a few more last "hurrahs" in. I really enjoy trolling for salmon in the salt. Something about that rod bouncing and releasing that is so dang addictive.

Hi Barchaser, I'll be out tomorrow--blue and white Bluewater ski boat--probably the guy going in the wrong direction! May head out of Edmonds--anyone know if they are on winter start times--7:00? they website says yes, but I recall last year they delayed that a week or so.

we fished Thursday morning for about 5 hours, 7am-noon, slack water was at 10:30. We caught both coho at about 9:20 and 9:30, both at 85' with a white hoochie and green flasher. We were fishing from Shilshole to West point, fish were caught south of the locks but before west point...Didn't see any other nets fly but these were both healthy coho over 10lbs each

Yup! I was there also. There was fog to the north and fog to the south but that area was clear. Launched at Everett at 6:45. Two rods and we got our 4 at 9:15. Picked up 3 early at Mulk, but it petered out by 8:30 or so. We picked up the last one trolling south with the tide about a mile north of the Wreck. Got our 4 a little earlier than yesterday. This run has been so good it makes me feel like Superfisherman, which I'm not!

You could prob use the proverbial bottle opener behind a flasher and catch fish.

Yesterday my buddy and me got 2 right around 11 and 2 about 9 pounds and let a bunch go and today we got 3 right around 10 pounds and one about 13 14 and let some go. I also caught and released a native king about 15 pound give or take a little.

sweet. For those of you fishing between Mukilteo and Shipwreck, are you just running more or less down the middle of the channel? I'm guessing it probably doesn't matter too much. I usually fish between Edmonds and Shipwreck/old boathouse so south of your location. And just anywhere out in deep water. The nice thing about trolling 3.5mph is you will cover a lot of territory, and if the conditions are right running back over the fish is a good option when you get one and see others.

Yes, years like this make everyone more confident. :-"

Hi Mike, I've been fishing the middle, but reports yesterday were that the fish were shallower and farther East--350 feet of water (though we did great in the middle yesterday). Today's action looked like it was focused south of the Shipwreck. That's where we picked up our two and saw lots taken--and a LOT of boats--nothing from the troll from Mukilteo to the wreck. We were in the middle again, but most guys were a bit east of us.

I've been fishing closer in... 200-300 foot of wtr. We've been doing best trolling with the tide whichever way it is going. Often, we troll the area we want to cover and then run back up tide and do it again. Cover more water that way, possibly giving more fish a chance to see the gear.. I also think there is something to the thinking that the fish are sitting there finning with their faces into the current, so the gear is coming directly at them and is more readily visible. For the Springers in the Columbia the guys have taken that theory to the extreme and the water is very rough with all the boats running back up current.

May have to try some new spots. Last Friday I saw some guys fishing northwest of the Everett buoy. In years past I did pretty well trolling the Racetrack between Hat and Camino Head. There are some later run Silvers in the Stilly that may stage at the Racetrack.

Everett fish checks show a decline over the weekend, but in most years 1.6 fish per boat is pretty good!

Still plenty of fish out there. My buddy and I got our 4 and done by 10AM. A little more shallow than usual, 50 feet seemed to be the deal. We hit a honey hole about 1.5 miles north of the Wreck, not out in the middle, 250-300 FOW. We saw plenty of fish being caught. I'm surprised they are still there. I thought it would be kinda slow. A little fog but not bad.

I don't get why every thinks the run is over already?
But anyways I'm still getting limits. I took my white lamiglas koke rod out a couple days. It did awesome until i set the hook and slammed it into the boat top. Now its a 3 piece rod haha I was running a 11 inch flasher though and it was fighting 10 pounders no problem.
