Agate Pass coho Q

Post by Brat Bonker » Thu Sep 13, 2012 7:10 pm

I have never fished it before even though it is less than 30min from my house and I was curious if there is any good shore access to get on the action for the net pen coho and what are some good lures to try?

I've never fished that area but if you're fishing from shore for coho, I've always used buzzbombs and had pretty decent success.

It never hurts to ask, I'm sure he just wants to be prepared when he shows up. I've always used white with a blue or black stripe.

If you don't have a line in the water, your chance of catching a fish is pretty much nil. There are many factors that come into play when fishing and time on the water is a major one. Agate Pass reminds me of the East channel in Lake Washington. Both are a shallower alternative route that most migratory fish avoid in favor of the deeper and more open waters. If you want to bank fish, run up to Point Wilson, coho are readily caught from shore there and the State Park is really nice this time of year.

I just want some places close to bremerton to fish so I do not have to pay so much for gas to catch the same amount of fish since I just got my license about a month ago. I want to try gorst too and maybe chico bay for silvers.

Agate Pass should have fish in the area and I know people do walk down below the bridge and fish it for silvers and sea-runs. Silvers should be in the area since I believe it's the first year back for the silvers for the tribe's pens over there. Have you headed down to Brownsville? I have no idea if those fish go up in there but I've caught a silver on that little bridge a couple years ago, I'm guessing they were those lost pen silvers from awhile back. Just saw people fishing there and my dad drove by and saw that fish were jumping so we tried it out. Also I think my dad has said there's the area in Silverdale by the Silverdale Motel area and Taco Bell area where he's seen people fishing for silvers. I'd try going to the park that's on the way to Olympic High School from the Silverdale area, I think the park is off Tracyton Blvd, then walk down to the beach and fish it in the morning. Then there's also Port Orchard, I think it's Blackjack Creek, where people fish off the rocks on the side and right below one of the dealerships/stores area, in Sinclear Inlet.

the place in silverdale is at the mouth of clear creek. thats a good place to catch silvers. you just park at the old sawmill park and walk to the mouth. anna smith on tracyton is good also in front of the creek .

hey thanks jbball and outbreed yeah my friend justin told me clear ck is doing allright right now along with black jack and I might try barker as well.
I actually live less than a mile from brownsville and that creek there(steele ck) used to have okay runs of kings and good chum and silver runs but now it is just a few silvers, chums and lost pinks. Me and my school friends all fish brownsville for a whole bunch of stuff but mostly perch, dogfish, and cuttthroat but never hooked a salmon, what did you get yours on jbball?
I might try these areas this weekend alomng with the quilcene, thanks again to all that helped!

I think I just caught it on a buzzbomb since that's all I really used to throw when fishing off the bank for kings/silvers in the saltwater. Also try Salisbury Point if you're up by the Quilcene. I know my mom's casino buddy said he was doing good from the bank there a couple weeks ago for silvers.

yeah my friends said they were doing really good there too back in august though.
I was at brownsville friday night and saw a handful of jumpers on the creek side of the bridge, going to try clear ck later today.

For all those silvers at Clear Creek, Barker, etc. in the Silverdale area, could a person intercept them earlier in the season, by fishing off the beaches along the Port Washington Narrows? I fished the Port Washington Narrows as a child during the summer, for bottom fish. But I vaguely recall seeing occasional shore fishermen later in the fall, targeting salmon. Don't know if they were chums head to Chico Creek, or silvers headed to the Silverdale creeks...
