Trolling for Kings with Coyote Spoons
I hear a lot of people are catching the kings on coyote spoons. How deep do you guys usually troll and in how much feet of water.

Depends on the time of day.
Morning time - no more than 40' down in anywhere from shore to 100' of water.
Middle of the day and early evening - 70 - 100' down in 100-120' of water.

This is a really tough question. Put your gear where the fish are. Certain places are different. You gotta know the local knowledge and then be able to know where the salmon might/should be running, then put your presentation to the proper depth...

So trolling coyote spoons aren't much different than trolling hoochies.

fisherhall,
I troll a spoon any time over a hoochie...A lot of it is personal preference though, and I'm more of a believer in getting your gear down at the right depth and getting scent on it instead of finding the perfect lure for salmon...

Correct. If I have two people in the boat I run one rod with a flasher/spoon and one rod with a flasher/hoochie. Some days the salmon like the hoochies better, some days they like the spoons better. Once I figure out which they are liking better I put that on both rods.fisherhall wrote:So trolling coyote spoons aren't much different than trolling hoochies.
