Members sought for Master Hunter Advisory Group

OLYMPIA - The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) is accepting letters of interest through Dec. 18 for membership on the department's Master Hunter Advisory Group.

Four positions are currently open on the 15-member volunteer group, which advises WDFW on issues affecting the department's Master Hunter program and more than 2,000 master hunters statewide.

To qualify, applicants must be certified master hunters, who have completed special training that makes them eligible to assist WDFW in addressing specific wildlife-management issues in Washington. Advisory group members serve three-year terms.

Current openings are for master hunters living in these areas:

Region 1, representing Pend Oreille, Spokane, Lincoln, Stevens, Whitman, Ferry, Garfield, Columbia, Walla Walla and Asotin counties.
Region 2, representing Okanogan, Chelan, Douglas, Grant, and Adams counties.
Region 5, representing Lewis, Cowlitz, Clark, Skamania, Klickitat, and Wahkiakum counties.
Any county in the state, serving at large.

To be considered for a position on the advisory group, applicants must submit a letter of interest to WDFW by Dec. 18.

Applicants should address letters of interest to Lt. Eric Anderson, Master Hunter policy lead, at Eric.Anderson@dfw.wa.gov or to Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife, Enforcement Program, Attn: Eric Anderson Hunter Education Division; 600 Capitol Way North, Olympia, WA 98501-1091

More information about the application process and the responsibilities of the Master Hunter Advisory Group is available on WDFW's website at http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting/masterhunter/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
