OKRA?????????
The dreaded OKRA.What is it?According to Webster its a "tall or semi tall tropical plant with edible pods".Webster was no good ole boy thats for sure.Okra to me is a vegetable and a versatile one at that.I deep fry Okra with hot sauce, grill them on the BBQ,make stews and soups with them.My favorite thing is to pickle them.I do reg (mild),or 7 star hot ones.Okra has this slime effect not sure why really. But a lil slime never hurt no one.Hahahaha.Right now is the peak of Okra season.Everytime I go to Yakama I buy loads of it.Okra is mostly eaten by southerners, asian, mediteranean and middle easterners.Another way to make good Okra is with Lamb, onions, and tomatoes with loads of fresh lemon juice.Ifin you never have had any you should try it.Its a bit pricey on this side of the mountains but over there its about 2.00 on average a pound. Then you get fresh picked which everyone knows the fresher the better. If its something that really interests you I can give you a specific recipe or just Google it up.
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

Ifin you like pickled okra Id be more then happy to give some away.I make pint or quart jars.I dont sell them.I usually trade a jar for a lure.I made some this year that are serious gut burners. Each jar has 1.5 cut up Habeneros and a whole red Jalepeno cut up in them.Pm me an addy or set up a time to pick up.I do drive to Yakama most weekends right now so you east siders can git some also.I have about 6-12 jars extra for now.Might have more later.Oh yea this offer is for Wa lakes .com members only....

Hmmmm, I would have to pass even though I really like spicy food. Spicy and gut burning are two different critters, and I had a bad Habenero incident a few years back. I ate it raw. Yes things are feeling better. Both of them.Hahahahaha.I'm gonna go pontooning this weekend on Lk Wa. We'll see how it goes.I opened a jar of the gut burners and they are not there yet.Now they are hot but very tolerable. After a few months in that brine they should heat up.I wont take them ice fishing.
