Send a PM to T-Dot. I am almost certain that he added a casting deck to his Jon boat awhile back. Have fun with it.

There are a lot of these jon boat casting deck projects listed on the web with pictures. I found them when I was looking to do this with my boat. The plywood/carpet is pretty much the main option.

Marine grade plywood and outdoor carpet is the way to go. Use rust free staples, Arrow sells them made out of monel, which run cheaper than the stainless steel versions. To make things easier on yourself get carpet with a sheared top which your hooks won't be able to snag.

Sounds like your piecing together a nice rig for the smaller lakes and ponds, we want pics when she's done.

Well its not a jon boat but I put a casting deck in my 1978 seaswril 15.5 foot, I bought a sheet of marine grade plywood 1/2 inch thick, i used cardboard as a templet, then traced with pencil the cardboard cut out on the plywood, after cutting the plywood I built a frame with 2x4's. As for the carpet I used a outdoor carpet that i bought at I think was carpet barn on sprague in spokane its like 7 bucks for a square yard of it, they also have this really cool adhesive that works great, I think after the project was done I pent like 80 or 90 bucks. Its nothing to brag about but it does an amazing job, good look hope this helps.

thanks for the link to the sight. i have chosen not to make a casting deck for it. will just make a small spot to mount the bow mount. i will be looking for a 12 or 14 footer to put a deck on. i enjoy having a project boat so maybe i will just keep a few of them.
