Ok so you now have a new boat.

Now that I have a boat that I can rely on getting me to and from the fishing spots. I have a challenge with putting the gas in my truck. Not that I dont have the money to do it I just have a challenge with the thought of paying that much in gas. I guess I need to start selling trips to split the cost. Maybe I would feel better about it then?

Just offer up some open seats and ask for folks to split the costs of gas, bait, whatever. Plus you could meet some good fellas here....

I know gas at $4+ per gallon does suck, but I like fishing way too much to let gas prices severely impact the amount of fishing I do. I save $$$ in other places to make up for the money I spend driving to and from fishing spots and buying gas for the boat....

There is going to be a lot of dock parties this year with people who moor the boat and party without leaving the marina.
I'm glad my setup sips gas and the places I go salmon fishing are not to far to drive to.

But you can't catch a 10 pound steelhead with a electric motor and boat in a lake. I like salmon and steelhead.

Depends on where you are fishing but a guides licence,coast gaurd cert. and insurance but there could be more#-o

Better think about first aid, cpr, Coast guard license, Insurance....that's Lot's ...and a business license for each state if you do the Columbia. You may need 2 radars for the boat and gps, 2 depth finders, radios and first class saftey gear..... Not real cheap. There is a lot of difference between what you need and what you should have. If you try to go second class and someone dies you will own nothing for your lifetime. Best bet is to get hired buy a company and have them tell you what you need. It is going to cost a lot, the more places you go. Lakes cheap...rivers, and sound more and of course the ocean will cost you a bunch. The Coastguard inland license is not easy and the ocean license is much harder. I towed old barges around and it took me 10 years to get a license just to start the boat....Gotta love the Coast Guard. I hope you don't have to get a real license from them. Hope for a piece of paper. Hope the insurance co. goes for it. Good Luck My Friend!!!

Shouldn't be tough. I see so many trucks on the road for sale now.
A rig to throw the toon in is so much nicer then having to inflate each time you want to run to the lake.

Did you say that you had two toons? ....Find a fishing buddy that has a truck but no pontoon and offer the use of your pontoon if he or she hauls. I just stack the pontoons over the other and bungy them down.

if you have a hitch on what ever you are driving i have a better idea. try a toon trailer. pm me i have photos. a lot cheaper that a truck, ins, and gas.
