Northwest Fishing Reports

Has anyone tried Berkley Gulp! line of baits? I am thinking using them for some panfish and I have heard and seen good reviews. But being a suspicious person by nature I don't always trust reviews on websites.

I do know they contain no plastic and will completely break down and not end up on the bottom of the lake. I have been doing some research on the Gulp! as well. I wish I could buy a bunch and try them out but they are costly. I think Berkley should make a sample pack with a few baits in it geared toward a single species. I would buy that for sure. I'll be eyeing this thread. I am really curious about the baits they have geared toward different types of fish.

So, Lip Rippa, how has the fishing around Bellingham been? I just got into Bass fishing and was successful my first outing from shore. PM me if you have any good tips, I'm still learning to fish these western waters.

I have a jar of the maggots, honey worms, and redworms. Havnt caught a fish on ANY of them. I plan to keep trying them for panfish throughout the year - if no takers they're gonna get trashed.

I tried berkley gulp eggs last week. The good news was they seemed to attract more bites than the regular "power eggs." The bad news is, they are much more delicate. It only takes a few nibbles for a fish to get all of your bait, even if you are using several eggs. That is the good thing about power eggs -- the fish really has to work to get your bait. But like any bait, there are pros and cons. I think I will stick with the traditional power egg personally. Hope that helps.

i tried the berkly worms the other day tipped on a crappie jig. i was sight fishing for pumkinseeds on the bed just testing these things out. i got several hits but they wouldnt eat it for anything. just smack at it. im gonna have to compare them to real worms and see if theyll eat that when they refure the fake worms. will keep you updated

Most all of the “plastics” I use for bass are Gulp!
I think they are great. Kind of weird…. Leave them out for a few hours and they turn rock hard.

They are expensive. But they are supposed to out fish live bait 4:1. Ive used them before but nothing out fishes the real thing, but they do have a huge line of products. I also like the gulp eggs better than the regular berkely eggs but way more pricey

Expensive...Some things are good....

If your looking at power eggs, stick with the regular ones...Some of the bass worms like the sinking minnow are nice...Make your hands smell like crap though....

I shoulda said I was after panfish. I bought the skinny little Gulp garden worms today but I bought some live meal worms as a backup. I love fishing for bluegill. The big ones fight so hard on ultra light rods and 4 lb test.

No Clothes, I have only been fishing once this season. It seems like everything has been getting in the way of me going fishing. I'm jonesin to get my line wet. The bad part about it is I bought this two man bass boat back in April that I haven't even taken out yet.

I have no experience with any of the little gulp panfishing stuff...I do know they have a bunch of varieties of that stuff, I walk by them every time I'm at the tackle store....

wow itslike we just had this conversation about perch/bluegill fishing i use the berkely power wigglerthe gulp maggots looked flimsy to me i watched some kids use the gulp worms and they did real good on bluegills

I find them to be more effective than the regular PowerEggs; however, I combine the regular and the Gulp to stop the "bait thieves".

I have had the most success on the Gulp white maggots for a variety of panfish. I usually use them as a tipper on a micro jig, but sometimes I will fish them alone under a float if I find an active school.

I just saw for the first time the GULP! powerbait. The have some really intresting flavors worth trying, but like every other GULP! product they are more pricey than the regular Berkely products

I have been getting out every couple of days, but at least when you go out you will have a boat. I have been fishing from shore and have been catching bass. I've given up on the trout for a while. I am just getting into bass fishing and love it. I had a nice 2+ lb hit a senko I was fishing on the surface since the old plop and drop wasn't gettin any love. I agree, Panfish are fun. I caught a load of little something or others the other day and a perch, i know what those look like from my days back on the Great Lakes. I was fun since I was getting skunked on the trout, but that were all babies. They all made it safely back into the water. They'll be waiting for ya

Oh, by the way, you can leave your pole in your boat and park it in my yard, I'll make sure the line meets the water. HAH!
