Lake bank/dock fishing suggestions with my kids

Post by bobbyg123 » Mon Jul 26, 2010 6:48 pm

Hi everyone. First post on this great site, and it's a straight forward one. My 4 year old twin boys are finally at the age where I can begin introducing them to fishing. I've been out of the fishing loop for a number of years myself, and I'm looking for suggestions on where to go with them. For all of you diehards out there, I'm not looking for any of your "secret spots." We live in Duvall, and I'm simply in need of a few nice spots where we can set up and fish without a lot of challenging casting or snag ups. My guys are still pretty little, so dock fishing for pan fish or the occasional bass would be ideal. Here in Duvall, Lake Joy is pretty cool; however it's very small and we'd like to find some other places.

Any good docks or relatively private banks on Lake Washington, Lake Samammish, Flowing Lake, etc. that you would recommend? I'm also not opposed to taking them to some area rivers just as long as the terrain and water flow isn't too aggressive. When you get twin 4 year old boys goofing off, it only takes a second for one of them to get swept away. At least if they fall off the dock, I'll hear the splash. #-o

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to WaLakes.

Lake Meridian east of Kent has a good dock lots of people fish off. Has guard rails all around so should be hard to fall off. Pine lake in Issaquah has a fishing dock/pier.

Don`t know of any up that way but if you wanna take a lunch and spend the day there are alot of lakes down this way that offer family fishing from docks. Lake kapowsin, tanwax, offut american just to name a few. Some of the ones I mentioned are also availible here on the site in the lake videos section. Hope that helps.

Log Boom park on the large dock there, just worms 1½-2½ ft under bobber and they'll have almost non stop bites-- lot's of yellow perch, bluegills, punkin seed, large mouth bass.ocassional crappie and catfish... Ask fisherboy , he's fished there while I was fishing there too both of us catch and releasing em having fun.

Gene Couloun in Renton is great place to go, huge dock. Plenty of place to fish and an Ivars and Kid valley in front of the dock. Lots of perch, may not be the bigger ones, you'll have to wait until it gets dark for those.

Draw backs, no dogs in the park, that sucks. Not a secret spot, really busy on the weekends, try going on weekdays.
