Be careful out there...this could possibly ruin a day fishing!

Gnarley. I took one in the shoulder once. Nothing to complain about especially compared to that.

i actually have two funny fish hook stories.

1) i was fishing for trout at lacamas lake and was casting straight out in front of me and reeling it back in, well i must have hit a branch in the water because i felt a tug on the line and instinctivly lifted the rod tip up hard and was surprised by the hook flying at my face going about 200 mph. out of pure instinct i put my hand in front of my face and caught the hook in the tip of my pointer finger. i am convinsed it would have hit my eye if i had not blocked it.

2) again i was fishing for trout with some buddies at lacamas lake and we were fishing on a small bank on the side of the road casting our spoons and spinners out in front of us. well my friend was walking behind us as we casted and my other friend unexpectedly hook him in the back while doing his back-cast. the funniest thing is i had to preform lake side surgery with a pocketknife, i had to cut the peice of skin that the hook was through because the barb was sunk in deep. we got a cheap cell phone video of it but it turned out bad so i deleted the vid.

Had a Coho spit a small, but narrow metal 3/4oz. casting spoon right at me while fighting it boat side the other day. Managed to duck just outta the way, definitely was heading for my face...Careful fellas...

Always wear glasses (polarized are great) when fishing. Fish hooks and eyes do not go together...especially when flinging little bugs with sharp barbless hooks. I always wear my Smith Tortoise shades and all is well if I do end up taking one to the eye.

I took a barbed trebly to the lip early this season. Sunk deep into the flesh of my lower lip and wasn't coming out.

I struggled for about 20 minutes trying not to cause extra damage upon removal...got a little light headed and sweatin' bullets, but I got it out. The flesh that makes up your lips is very tough stuff, and talk about hurt!!!

I was 4 miles into the back-country, with no mirror...so I was "operating" blind.

Shoulda left it in. Lip rings are cool, right?:geek:

My first experience with Gamakatsu hooks was somewhat similar. Being an old country boy from Georgia, I typically just bite my fishing line instead of cutting it. I was bass fishing with some brand new Gama hooks and I did that to put on a smaller hook. I don't know what happened but my head whipped to one side just as I was biting the line, and the hook went straight into my top lip. Luckily the barb didn't go in, but as soon as I pulled it out, blood went everywhere. I looked like Mike Tyson had just had a go with me.

Hooks are dangerous. Especially the good ones.
