Lake Washington Crawfishing spots?

Post by kenhsiung » Sat May 11, 2019 7:10 am

I’ve been testing out this crawfishing thing and taken a couple of trips at Marymoor park and then Madison park, and got absolutely nothing both times in the past week. Does anyone have some good spots or pointers? Apparently rocks or the weed line are good, I’m hoping to find a nice spot on the shore that’s not too far from Seattle. I was under the impression these things were everywhere but seems like tough going so far. Tried trout carcasses, and couple of kinds of cat food. Wondering if it’s maybe too early in the season and the crawfish aren’t active?

Any help would be much appreciated!

When the season first opens the crawfish are a bit slow. By June things should pick up. We catch most of ours at night. They are more active then

Thanks papacraw, any suggestions on spots? Or general areas? I also tried coulon for a couple hours just To see if I could get anything with no luck (tho I’ve seen on YouTube there are craws there). Would be great to know some general areas where there should be some when it picks up! Thanks

I’ve only trapped at meridian due to small kids and staying close to home, hope to venture out more this year. Had no luck crawfishing when it’s light out

I was out trying and have not been able to figure out where they are yet, I have tried madison park, arboretum, and under I-90 but no luck. I'm really curious of how most people who have been going out are doing. I don't know anyone else who does this so I would love to learn!

Ive dropped 5 pots in Lake Washington a few times. Caught nothing but sculpin and bullfrog tadpoles. Ive soaked pots near the mouth of mercer slough, around the cedar river mouth, various spots along the east channel and near lake union.... all skunked. Ive trapped Sammamish twice with the same results. I have caught very few crawfish on the west side of the mountains, from Lake wilderness, Lake Sawyer and the Green River, but never enough for a meal. Good luck!
