Banks Lake and the Spokane arm?

Post by Larry3215 » Mon Apr 29, 2019 10:52 pm

Hey everyone, my bros and I are heading over to Banks next week for 5 days.

Was wondering if anyone has any recent info on lake levels, water temps, and how good/bad the fishing is. Its been a few years since we have fished Banks and it has always been later in the season. Late May, early June is when we normally go, but we forgot to make reservations early enough. We will be staying at a hotel near Coulee Playland, but can drive to the south end of the lake if thats where the action is.

Speaking of driving, we are seriously considering driving over to Ft Spokane one day next week and heading up the Spokane Arm. There have been some interesting reports from there recently. That area has been on our bucket list for a while, but we never have actually made it over there. We will be targeting walleye and burbot mainly.

We normally fish for walleye trolling bottom bouncers or jigging while drifting in the lakes, but Im curious how you guys go for them in the river? Do you troll with or against the current or drift or or anchor and jig or? I know to look for current seams, but thats about it. Any other tips or things to watch for would be appreciated.

Also, I read that there are floating toilets on Lake Roosevelt. Are there any on the Arm? I have searched Google and cant find any details other than they exist.

My bros and I are all old farts, so knowing about facilities is important :)

Think I recall one just below the island on the arm but too early for them to be "open". Probably won't be until closer to Memorial Day. Haven't launched at Ft. Spokane for over 10yrs so memory is foggy, but, am pretty sure there are pit toilets at top of the hill near the parking area.

Very welcome. [wink]
