Hi all, Its been a really bad season this year on the nooksack for coho.... So far this year I've only been able to catch and keep 3.. Im wondering if anyone else has had better luck? I have been all the way up to the hatchery's on both forks with little success even thought I have been seeing many fish ( not necessarily coho's) To date Ive only kept 1 22lb chum that's been smoked to chum perfection.. Good color and flavor.....

Anyone else have luck on the nook this year?

Nope it was a terrible year for me on the nooksack as well. I only got 4 coho. I did ok on the pinks, but the silvers are what I really look forward to on that river. Not sure what is going on, but I'm sure that there are several factors that are contributing to the less than stellar returns. Getting out on a boat is the best way to fish that river. You need to cover a lot of water most days to get into good numbers of fish consistently. Unfortunately I'm one of those guys stuck on the bank =/

I am unfortunately in the same predicament with out a boat. Fishing for salmon has been quite fun and yet frustrating as well at times. Im an east coast fisherman ( Maryland, where we fish for BASS on the Potomac river and troll off the coast of north Carolina for tuna..) Not the same here in Washington but im loving it! Unfortunate that I haven't bought waders or hip boots yet so im really shore'n it... Going to head to the confluence and do some walking up the south fork tomorrow and maybe catch a steelhead or at least a chum... but its not looking good.....
