Are Lake Roosevelt boat ramps usable when water is low?

Post by Larry3215 » Fri May 08, 2015 7:42 pm

My brothers and I will be staying at Banks for a week starting on 18 May. We might want to try fishing at Roosevelt and Rufus Woods while we are there. We have fished Banks before but never been on Roosevelt or Rufus.

I just did some checking on-line and it looks like Roosevelt is about 40 feet below full pool at the moment. Are the launches near Grand Coolie usable when the water is that low?

How is Rufus Woods? We would be launching below the dam at the Elmer City launch.

Banks looks like it is about 4 feet below full pool at the moment. Thats about where it was when we were there last June.

Any tips greatly appreciated :)

Larry,
I just returned from the area after last weeks Chelan bam-boozal. You can currently launch at Spring Canyon for Roosevelt and the Elmer City launch is open as well for Rufus. Just be advised, the USBR has set up a work site at the launch to repair an erosion area downstream. Fishing was good at both. I would suggest using Google and bookmark the USBR web page for current level, and the Lk Roosevelt site for min. water level required for each boat launch on Roosevelt.

Thanks for the info Mav!

I will check the USBR site tomorrow - at the moment it wont load for me.

I did find the site for Roosevelt launches vrs water level.

http://www.gcdvisitor.com/boat-launch-a ... roosevelt/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

MINIMUM BOAT LAUNCH ELEVATIONS
Crescent Bay 1265′
Spring Canyon 1222′

So Crescent Bay wont be usable at the moment.
