4th Annual BC Open Bass Tournament, Shawnigan Lake, Vancouver Island, BC

Post by basscanada » Mon Feb 18, 2008 2:56 pm

I know it's a trek for anglers from WA but we the West Coast Bass Anglers (a Washington State B.A.S.S. Federation Club) are hosting the 4th Annual BC Open Bass Tournament on Saturday, April 5th 2008. Shawnigan Lake is well worth the trip as it as it is LOADED with HUGE bass and little to ZERO bass fishing pressure. Most teams will boat 20+ fish including MANY fish in the 3-4 lbs range. The tournament is the only one of its kind in the province of British Columbia which boasts exceptional bass fishing opportunities. Last year’s event had a field of 30 teams and the winning weight was 27 lbs 4 oz (all Smallmouth Bass 5 fish limit) including a 6 lb 7oz pig.

Entry Fee: $100 per team
Big Fish Option: $20
80% Payout
Tournament Hours: 7am to 3pm
Location: Shawnigan Lake Public Boat Launch
Date: Saturday, April 5th 2008

For more info please contact me, WCBA Tournament Director Chris Blake at 778-869-2244 or by email: info@wcba.ca

Sounds like an amazing fishery. That is one heck of a bag of smallies.
Don't you need a passport to travel to and from Canada now? How long does it take to get one?
Is there any off limits for the contest?

I chatted with a local that is fishing that tournament. He said that lakes gets by far more than little to zero fishing pressure. BUT, I'm not doubting the fish it puts out. If you're willing to pay the big $$ to put your bass boat on a ferry there and back, give it a try.

1. How many team have enterd in the past? Payout based on 50 but this is only the 4th year so is it big?

In the first 3 years of this event we have had fields ranging from 20 to 30 teams, I anticipate about 25 teams this year.

2. Sounds like an amazing fishery. That is one heck of a bag of smallies.

You don't need a passport to enter the US or Canada yet:

WASHINGTON - A U.S. Senate committee Thursday voted to put off until mid-2009 passport requirements for U.S. travelers entering the United States by land or sea from Canada and other neighboring countries.

The off limit periods are from Monday March 31st to Friday April 4th.

I hope to see you guys there!
