Re: C'mon, man.
The way I see it, I would have nothing to poke fun at if they followed the rules. I don't make fun of guys doing legit stuff. And I wouldn't go so far as to call me a bad person. And trust me, if I ever had a guy listen to what I tell him, I would keep trying to reinforce proper ethics amongst every...

Re: C'mon, man.
Holy crap, I post a thread and boom goes the dynamite. I forgot I even posted but it's turned into quite the discussion! I appreciate everyone's feedback and thoughtfulness. I also hope nobody got too offended when I made a joke about the corky+yarn guys. I know its a viable way of catching fish, bu...

C'mon, man.
I find this quite humorous, a trinket I found in the Wallace last year. IMG_1422 (1).jpg What is the point of the hoochie squid on there. That's a waste of a perfectly good squid. "But... it attracts the fish to it, and then, you hook them in the @$$, and then, I break the fish off cause my 20lb mon...

The Beach Chicken
For when we can fish for coho again in saltwater...
#stripthebird
Trailer hook, Saltwater components, slightly weighted with a rabbit back for action and plenty of flash for taunting devious coho. It's face resembled a chicken to me, so the name beach chicken was born. #stripthebird

Re: Cheeky Chub/Pass Lake Chub
I caught a 12" brown off of the boat launch. He hit 6 times, including right as the fly hit the water.
Also I got my fly caught in a mess of algae, and skated it across the surface back to the boat and a fish hit it as it was engulfed in slimy green weeds. That was funny.

Re: Cheeky Chub/Pass Lake Chub
The lake fished very well. The only problem was the "accuracy" of the fish, namely the browns. I got so many swipes, misses, even porpoises on the fly that didn't stick it was unbelievable. All streamer-type hooksets too, it was odd. I could have had a 20 fish day had I landed every bite/hookup. Als...

Re: Cheeky Chub/Pass Lake Chub
Of course I wasn't happy with the original product. I had to go back and make some modifications, make it more complex, etc. Well, this time I was right.
20+ Trout sent their approvals after witnessing the first run.
The cheeky chub just got cheekier.

Re: fly fishing for coho?
It makes it a whole lot easier to fish a full sink intermediate or the like, and depending on the beach, different weights of flies. Those streamer tips heads are nice because they are clear and shoot distance real easy.

Re: Cheeky Chub/Pass Lake Chub
I spent way too much time trying to "over-develop" flies, adding a bunch of materials that added good looks but made the fly swim like a newborn elephant. These were like Russell Wilson flies... when I drafted them, I had mixed thoughts, but when put into action, they won over the starting position ...

Cheeky Chub/Pass Lake Chub
Here's a really simple baitfish pattern called the Cheeky Chub. It is named appropriately for being first used as a pattern imitating the fathead chubs in Pass Lake, and developed while I was recovering from a wisdom teeth operation, during which I looked like a squirrel stuffed full of peanuts. "Th...

Re: Your favorite sinking fly line?
Sorry I got to this a little late. I have a RIO connect core full sink and it works gloriously. Some people have had issues with the connect core but it works great for me. Loads a rod super easy and welded loops make changing leaders a breeze.

Re: What should we do now?
@fishvacuum: You bring a good point: The hatcheries weren't doing what they said they'd do: Develop a strategy to decrease interbreeding between hatchery-wild fish and in the end conserve wild fish. They were using the Chamber's Creek fish, which was not covered by NOAA and therefore illegal. Cited ...

As of 2:30ish PM today, King 5 issued a notification saying that the State and Tribes have reached an agreement on salmon fishing seasons, and it "could open as early as next week." More information is to come. It still needs to be approved by NOAA. Here's the link: http://www.king5.com/tech/science...

Kokanee Trolling Flies
I just thought I'd post a picture of a Kokanee Fly I've came up with. I haven't tried it yet but I tried to maximize it's potential in every way I could. Here it is: 1, under a UV light. 2, Dark w/ Glow properties. 3, Dark w/ UV. IMG_1835.jpg IMG_1837.jpg IMG_1838.jpg Properties/Features: -100% UV M...

What should we do now?
So here's something I've been toying around with for a little while. I feel like the recreational fishermen and women of the state have been getting the short end of the stick but the long end of the shaft lately. Especially anywhere above the Columbia. I know a lot of people feel this way, and may ...

Re: Rabbit-Back Baitfish
Oh, and here's the ones that I'll be throwing for Silvers if they ever decide to open it up. I'll be CnR if they open it up this year regardless if the regulations permit retention or not. I'm not going to bASStardize my words and retain a species that is in trouble. Anyways, here they are under a U...

Rabbit-Back Baitfish
Heres some flies I tied up with Sea Runs and salt-bound Bulldogs in mind. They incorporate more action than standard flies (clousers, epoxy minnows, etc.) due to the undulating rabbit fur bodies, have lots of flash, all while maintaining a decently small 2-inch profile underwater. They can be tied l...
