Headed out with a couple of buddies around 7 to lob lures until dark. We had a fun night on a lake I usually don't have much luck with (or patience with b/c of all the ski/tube traffic).
We hooked into smallmouth and crappie back in the SW corner of the lake and more smallies & bluegills along the east shore as we made our way back. We weren't out long enough to try too many places or too many lures, for that matter. My buddies were catching on rooster tail spinners and I was having good luck with a orange/yellow/green Rapala with the BB's inside (forget the name).
Great night on the water!
We pulled out in the dark and a shore fisherman was nice enough to turn on his headlights so I could see my trailer as I backed down that skinny ramp. This was the same guy who'd given us the advice about fishing that SW end of the lake as we were putting in. THANK YOU! I always appreciate a helping hand, some good advice, even a wave from another boater. Wish more fisherman lived by the old unwritten "fisherman's code".
