I started fishing about 3:30 in the afternoon and stayed until about 7:00. Didn't get into any fish until just before dark. From about 5:30 to 6:30 I landed 3 browns that were all over 20" and 2 rainbows around 17-18". I picked the browns up casting a beadheaded zonker (white) into the shoreline and stripping it out. I like to give the fly 5 to 8 quick strips and then pause for about 5 seconds. The browns will generally hammer it during the pause while the fly is sinking. I picked the rainbows up trolling about 50 yards from shore. I don't buy into the belief of fishing slow and deep this time of year. The fish get really active just before and after dark and if you give them a reason to think a meal is getting away, they will chase it.
