Arrived at the lake about 9:30 AM and immediately seen a fisherman take a fish while he was Chironomid fishing. Went down the lake to the far right side and started Chironomid fishing about 50 yards away from another angler. In talking with this fellow, he indicated that he had taken 1 fish and lost one fishing on a Callibaetis Nymph, but that was earlier in the morning. Continued fishing with the chironomids, changing patterns and locations to no avail.
Decided to troll around the far side of the lake using a intermediate sinking line and a carey special. About half way around the lake, the windy started blowing quite briskly so I quit rowing and let the wind just carry my car topper. I was moving quite briskly across the water when I took a very strong strike which after a 200 yard drift I netted a 17 inch Rainbow. Decided to row back up the far end of the lake again and see if I could repeat that episode again. I was rowing quite firmly against the wind when again I took another strike from another Rainbow. I decided to continue trolling the area at a brisk pace and for the next 2 hours eventually caught 8 rainbow/tripolids. The fish were between 13 and 17 inches.
About 4 PM, the action totally shut down so decided to call it quits.
