My nephew accompanied my neighbor and me as we again trolled Williams Lake. This time we were afloat by 0530 in The Doghouse, cruising proudly (with a new paint scheme) towards the basalt cliffs opposite the boat launch. Once we got past the shallow part of the lake, we broke-out the leaded line rigs and went silent and deep for the remainder of our fishing. The fishing was streaky, with periods of much bite activity followed by periods of.... nothing. The weather was HOTTTT and had me sweating like a wheel of cheese, and even though we went deep the fish tended to bite only when THEY felt like it. The lure pattern choice (color, size) did not seem to make a whit of difference. Top temperature of water was 75 degrees, up from 72 degrees a few days ago. I caught four fish, my nephew caught four as well. My neighbor caught three... The hot afternoon finally got the best of us so we packed it in and said fare thee well again to a great lake...Williams.
