Fished this lake for the first time today. Trolled wedding ring spinners and worms, just plain worm, peice of power bait, etc. Not one bite. after a couple of hours this got boring so I Thought I'd check out the posibility of hooking a bass since the outer edges of the lake had lilly pads, sunken logs, and shade to provide cover. It just looked bassy. I tied on a small Rapala and tossed it toward a sunken log with pads all around it. I started retriving it and WHAM. FISH ON! Now I dont fish for bass hardly ever,( I'm a steelheader and salmon in the rivers kind of guy and fish the local lakes in the spring before the rivers open.) but ths fish tore me up ! But was no match for my Super ultra light Shimano and 4#line . When I saw the large mouth was only 12 inches long I was shocked at the fight this rascal put out. I landed two more about the same size and soon forgot all about the trout. All in all it was a nice day,all fish were released unharmed.
