ARRIVED @ THE STATE PARK LATE FRIDAY NIGHT 26MAY06. GOT UP EARLY ON SATURDAY AND FISHED THE DUNES WITH NO LUCK. MOVED TO THE DAM AND HAD A FEW SMALLIES HIT ON DEEP DIVER'S (HOT LIPS). MY FISHING/HUNTING BUDDY PICKED UP ONE WALLEY ON THE DAM. PRETTY NICE ONE IN THE 3-4 LB. RANGE AT ABOUT 20 IN.
THE LAKE IS SO HIGH RIGHT NOW THAT THE WALLEY'S ARE VERY HARD TO LOCATE. THERE IS NO SIGN OF ANY PAN FISH AND THE FOLKS AT MARDON'S RESORT SAID THEY HAVE SEEN VERY FEW PAN FISH COMMING OUT OF THE LAKE AT ALL. THEY ALSO SAID THEY ARE KEEPING A HIGHER LEVEL OF WATER IN THE LAKE TO TRY TO KEEP THE PAN FISH HIDDEN TO HELP REPLENISH THE SPAWN OF THE PERCH, BLUEGILL AND SUNFISH. HOPEFULLY IT HELPS!
MY BUDDY AND I STAYED THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING AND ALL THE WALLEY'S WE PICKED UP WERE IN 13' OF WATER OR LESS! THERE WERE NO "SCHOOLS" AND THEY WERE VERY HARD TO FIND! WE HAD THE BEST LUCK IN LIND COULEY, THEY WERE ALL AT THAT LOWERED SIZE LIMIT, OF 12" BUT THOSE ONES ARE GREAT FOR THE BEER BATTER. WE HAD NO LUCK WITH ANY LMB! THE ONLY SMB WERE CAUGHT OFF THE DAM, BUT EVEN THEY WERE SLIM PICKIN. ALL IN ALL WE HAD A WONDERFUL TIME AND MET SOME GREAT PEOPLE FORM WHIDBEY ISLAND! DEFINATELLY MAKIN PLANS TO RETURN IN SEPTEMBER!
