Tried Medical for the first time this year. Have not had good early season results in years past so I waited a couple of weeks this year. Surface water temp 57 degrees, air temp 55 with winds gusting up to 25 MPH. Did not anticipate a lot of action due to arriving at 12:00, usually not good timing for Medical's brownies. But found them ready and willing! A thick hatch was already coming off. Had several takes on a black chironimid pattern but only a couple hook-ups. Moved to deeper water, 25-plus, and hooked several, most of which I lost, by stripping a black bugger to the surface as fast as possible. The fish I landed were all browns, 16-18" and fat and healthy. The lost fish felt like browns also by virtue of their slow, heavy powerful dives. No rainbows for me this time, ditto for the tigers which were supposedly planted last year.
