A Happy Father's Day to all you dads out there! My three year old son woke me up at 6 am this morning to remind me that my alarm had gone off and it was time to go fishing! What more could you ask for? We drove down to Lake Sammamish to troll for some of those cutthroats and whatever else was willing to bite. The morning started out sunny, and at 7:30 we had a nice fish on. Unfortunately, the release was stuck on the downrigger, and as I untangled it, 40 feet behind the boat this nice- sized chrome beauty did 3-4 tail walks and threw the hook. The lure was a perch-colored spoon trolled at 35 feet deep. At 8:30 we caught a 16" cut at 35 feet on the same lure. The clouds started to drift in and at 9:30 the starboard rod went off, yielding a chunky 15" Kokanee which was released (Koks are closed on Lake Sammamish). This fish was caught at 25 feet deep on a silver and red Super-Duper. Another fish at 9:40 (a 10" rainbow) and a missed fish at 10:00 (both at 25 feet on the Super-Duper) made the morning complete. My boy had fun, I had fun- what a perfect way to spend a Father's Day morning!
