Took an afternoon trip to Lake Lenore on 03-10 to try for some of those beautiful Lahontan Cutthroat trout. The weather was cloudy and the water temp was 42 degrees. There were very few people fishing ( a welcome change from what often becomes combat fishing at this lake) and the people there were evenly divided between hardware fishermen, such as myself using Krocodile and Pixie spoons, and Flyfishermen (using the tried but true black choranomids (SP?)). Fishing was, to put it mildly, sporadic. Two flyfishermen got 8 trout in a 30 minute spurt and I managed to land one 4 pounder and get two more strikes in a 10 minute span, but nobody else landed any fish or even got any appreciable strikes in the 2 1/2 hours I was there. It appears that the trout have not yet congregated in good numbers in either the north or south end, though I would imagine it should be happening in the next few weeks. All in all, a pleasant trip. If you go, remember that it's selective fishery regulations and also a catch and release fishery. Tight Lines!
