Well, no one will believe me, Especially those Worm Drowners at RA Pearson Co. I started near the boat ramp Saturday. I caught about 4-5 8"-10" planters right away. I then hooked into a nice 17" rainbow. It broke the new rod I just bought. Bummer. I brought a spare and kicked to shore to get it. There were tons of chironomid shucks on the water, but nothing rising and those folks I saw with indicators (presumably over chironomids) were not getting much action. Back out I went with a bunch of wooly buggers I tied up (mostly emerald/olive , some w/ grizzly hackle, some w/ lt. olive hackle). This turned the Rainbows on! I fished just off the bottom with a fast sinking line and through the course of the day I hooked and landed about 30 fish, all 17"-21". All super healthy and full of fight. Spectacular aerial acrobatics! I lost 5 flies to bigger fish and LDR another 10. I met a couple good guys and soon they were hooking into them too! One guy, Gary, and I hooked up Sunday and ha!
d almost as much luck again! Well over 40 big Rainbow Trout (maybe over 50, I stopped counting) for the weekend, all returned to get bigger. All on green, olive, or black wooly buggers. Gotta try that again! Good luck to all!
Smooth (cause I'm bald. shaved it for a cancer patient. now go say a prayer for her)
